To me his constantly saying ISIL is a code to the Palestinians that he supports their mission to eliminate the State of Israel. Just like his old 57 states in the USA “gaffe”, he knows how many states there are. By calling the organization ISIL, Obama conveys a level of respect and distinction to these scumbags....

ISIL means Islamic State of Syria and The Levant which includes Syria, Iraq, Israel, Jordan,Lebanon, the Sinai , ect. In other words, Obama, the proud father of ISIS , has much more ambitious goals for his his young child

So Obama uses ISIL, which is wonkish and obscure, and has no resonance with average folks. He wants detachment. He wants the opposite of gung ho feeling. He doesn”t want a relatable name that stirs feelings and focuses anger.
It’s the same reason we don’t see much video of the fighting we’re doing over there. Wouldn’t want to get people’s blood pumping.
Actually, the “L” better indicates the greater ambitions of IS.
They are not just about Iraq and Syria, they want the whole Middle East ... most especially Israel.
