In the hours after Sundays mass shooting at an Orlando night club, Chief John Mina of the Orlando Police Department said the gunmans weapons included a pistol and an AR-15-type assault rifle.
On Monday night, officials clarified that the rifle Omar Mateen used in the shooting was not an AR-15, but a Sig Sauer MCX rifle.
While aesthetically similar to and just as lethal as an AR-15, the MCX is internally a different beast, thus all but removing it from the AR-15 family of rifles. Yet while the weapon is different, the MCX and the AR-15 share the same design purpose: providing a highly portable, customizable, easy to operate and accurate rifle for the individual who possesses it.

As Bob Owens from the blog Bearing Arms points out, the MCX is a modular rifle designed to be able to change between a variety of calibers and otherwise has no major parts that interface with AR-15s in any way, shape or form.
Originally designed for U.S. Special Operations forces, the MCX was built from the ground up to be lightweight and short, and it accepts a broad array of accessories, enabling you to build a complete weapon system for any scenario or environment, Sig Sauers website says.

Anti-gunners have wanted to ban every type of gun used in a murder.
1963 they wanted to ban 5 shot bolt action army rifles.
1966 Whitman’s bolt action rifle.
1968 pump rifles rifles and handguns.
1984 semi auto rifles
1990 single shot .50 Cal rifles.
No matter what they say, if they get a ban on any type, rest assured they WILL be back for the rest.
What laws there are aren't enforced, just like the laws against the scum like his father getting into the country are ignored.
Funny thing, someone who had a domestic violence charge filed against them forty years ago and dropped has a problem when their ATF form goes for processing but a young radical Muzzie sails right through the process.
I think part of the reason journalists, politicians and anti-gun activists get the technical issues about a gun wrong is to get pro-2nd Amendment people into coldly discussing the technical details of a weapon. So when an activist goes on about “a long rifle assault caliber sniper bazooka” and how “we need regulations to protect the children” from the same, then the 2nd Amendment advocate tries to untangle the emotional scare words about the gun - the 2nd Amendment advocate sounds cold like Mr. Spock rattling off technical details and to the uninformed the anti-2nd Amendment advocate sounds “compassionate” by comparison.
That is a real problem - demagogues can say all sorts of emotional and inaccurate things and if you try to introduce facts, the low-information people will be turned off by that and will flock to the demagogue. The low-information voters are low-information for a reason - that is their mindset, that is their lifelong habit.
Like this one..?
Aside from that you are right on.
That’s the problem. They’re journalists rather than reporters. Reporters report. Journalists weave their own story.
Just put a bumpity bump stock on your AR and have fun.
True. Kinda wasteful of ammo for me though.
What caliber was it?

It doesn’t matter if it was a Gatling gun it was a Muslim pulling the trigger.
What does “AR” stand for?
No, it doesn't. Splitting hairs won't help us.
“Can it fire 700 rounds a minute like an AR-15?”
That’s edging up into the “spraying bullets” category.
Yes, “spraying bullets” is a technical term.
Armalite Rifle. Not that the left cares.
How many minutes/hours...were they on site...and didn't do anything?
Banning guns will not ban murder. The favorite weapon of the moslem jihadi is the bomb, not the rifle or pistol. Ban guns and they’ll use bombs. The problem is not with weapons but with the perverse ideology of islam.
Yes, facts are just nasty little details!
