Gretchen Carlson is renewing her push for an AR-15 ban, firing off a series of tweets further criticizing AR-15s and pointed to her daughter’s work with a Newtown charity. Breitbart News reported that Carlson said that AR-15s are not needed “to hunt or kill deer” and suggested they only serve to enable terrorists to carry out their attacks with greater efficiency. She quoted a December 2015 poll showing majority support for an “assault weapons” ban and said, “I’m with the majority today, taking a stand.”
When confronted by Second Amendment supporters on Twitter, Carlson doubled down on her pro-ban stance, sometimes conflating an AR-15 with the 30-round magazines that can be used in such a firearm.

It ought to be made mandatory that reporters who want to cover firearms related issues and comment on them publicly should take a standard firearms safety course (from the NRA in the United States or the one required for Canadian firearms licences). There, ones like her would probably learn the basic classes/types of firearms, being able to tell the functional differences between them, and be able to give a reasonably accurate sketch of federal/state/provincial/municipal laws dealing as such.
Then, these people might be worth listening to.

A ban on civilian ownership of “assault weapons” didn’t stop the terrorists in Paris or Mumbai. Hell, in Mumbai when the police were FINALLY issued rifles to combat the terrorists, many didn’t know how to use them.

The AR-15 is not the problem. The problem is that the venue was a gun free zone filled with “law abiding” sheeple.

May I ask why/how are they junk?
The primary reason for the 2nd amendment has NOTHING to do with hunting. It is about defending yourself against a tyrannical government.
I say again. Citizens own weapons for the SPECIFIC purpose of keeping government tyrants (democrats) in line.

Those of us who do own rifles for hunting purposes will also do the same, and the point missed by many is if we do hunt with them, the extra shots are only to make the kill as quick as possible.
My own practice is if I’m not sure I can do it with one. I don’t shoot .
Maybe we should repeat what she said, when her Father lost his automobile dealership to the Government?
