so how many of the mass murderers were on the no fly list and bought guns before their killings? I’d bet on ZERO
No....no one ever said how Ted got on the list. Must have been some joke done by Cheney’s people.
Someone brought up some college kid who’d been drunk and disorderly....forced off the plane, and the kid came up later to realize when they mean no-fly....it was absolutely no-fly.
I’m still wondering how guys do a year in prison, get out, and regain their rights (which aren’t supposed to be taken away either). If you ask me....we keep returning to this whole militia thing and the lack of standards written into the situation.
Exactly.
If the government is going to use the No Fly List in order to deny basic rights, then there has to be due process and rights of appeal for anybody placed on that list.
It should have been that way all along.
This is the slippery slope from the Patriotic Act. Those congresscritters that some foolishly suggest we call are the same ones that “worked across the aisle” to create the no fly list in the first place.
Due process is a principle; politicians only know tactics.
It Amends the federal criminal code to grant the Attorney General the authority to deny the right to enter a house of worship, or read materials related to religion to any individual if the Attorney General: (1) determines that such individual has been engaged in or has provided material support or resources for terrorist activities associated with religious beliefs, and (2) has a reasonable belief that such individual may use violence in connection with terrorism.
Seems like this would work better, infringe less people's rights, and be targeted to the real problem of radicalization by religious extremists. And note that it doesn't discriminate against any religion.
Of course it is just as unconstitutional as the proposed law related to firearms.
LOL! There ‘should’ be due process but the govt has gotten so far away from caring about citizens rights, they’ll do as they please.
No different than being denied the right to buy a book, or attend a church service, or write a newspaper article, or give a speech.
Thank you for that lesson.
Was the Orlando shooter on the no fly list ?
Are the criteria for denying approval for purchase now under current law narrow enough to prohibit denial for being on the no fly list? I know people who have been denied for false positives and they have never been able to get off the list. Can’t say how hard they tried, but they are still denied.
