Mateen was the shooter in the Pulse Orlando Shooting (2016). His family runs a religious non-profit called The Durand Jirga, Inc. Mateen is associated with ISIS. He also had similar encounter when he and his son were in the men's bathroom. [27]
Following the incident Twitter accounts associated with ISIS tweeted "#OrlandoIsBurning" - the trademark phrase for ISIS claiming responsibility for attacks. [1]

I don’t know that I believe the story about this Muslim family strolling around Miami listening to music.
Seems to me that he’d have to have had some sort of full auto firearm, to shoot over a hundred people in such a short space of time.
There’s a lot of Durand Jirga videos on youtube. Apparently the father was on Afghan tv. There’s an email and phone number on one video — area code of Orlando.
You’re looking at 20-30K or more for a fully automatic M-16 or AR. I suspect it was just more ignorant reporting.
If not it would be worthwhile looking into how he got it.
