A gunman took multiple people hostage overnight inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando, where "multiple people" were killed and 42 were injured, Orlando Police Chief John Mina said at a morning news conference.
The gunman, who has not been identified, was carrying an assault rifle, a handgun and a "device." The Orange County Sheriff;s Office hazardous device team is now searching the area.
Dozens of emergency vehicles surrounded the chaotic scene at the club at 1912 S. Orange Ave. after the 2 a.m. shooting and rescue squads were transporting multiple victims to area hospitals.

Obama will be blathering away about the massacre at 1:30 eastern. Looks like they did take far more time than usual to come up with a spin for this one.
I wonder if they’ll try the homophobic hate crime spin after the murderer’s father made the remark about his son being furious after seeing two men kissing in Miami. I don’t think that would fly with very many people.
I’ve been watching the live coverage and I am stuck by the total absence of eye witness interviews. Where are all the people who fled the attack? Wouldn’t one of them want to be interviewed on live international television?
A few of them were interviewed this morning. I’m sure some are at the hotel with families waiting for word about their friends.
Yeah, and as more news about the Orlando shooter (shouting Allahu Akbar) and this story from L. A. come out, Obama has postponed his remarks. Probably facts making his planned remarks sound as stupid as they were so they must go back to the drawing board.
Bryan Suits is on KFI in LA right now. He says the killer’s dad is an open supporter of the Taliban, he has been doing a series of broadcasts in the Dari language from a satellite radio outlet in Canoga Park, greater LA. The dad had been “running for President of Afghanistan”.
The killer’s wife also left him, unusual among Muslims. Rumors of domestic violence.
She was quoting Psalm 9:17.
And yes, sadly she is correct. The Nation that forgets God will be turned into hell. No excuse for America, a Nation founded by Christians and blessed with several revivals (rain from Heaven) and Great Awakenings.
All these blessings forgotten as a blessed Nation worships anything, and everything, but God.
