Kamala Harris, Loretta Sanchez Claim Runoff Spots In California US Senate Race
The Sacramento Bee ^ | June 7, 2016

In a historic first, California voters Tuesday sent two Democrats, both minority women, to a November runoff for the state’s open U.S. Senate seat.

The matchup between state Attorney General Kamala Harris and 10-term Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez marks the first time since voters started electing senators a century ago that Republicans will be absent from California’s general election ballot for the Senate. The outcome reaffirms the GOP’s diminished stature in the nation’s most populous state.

The two were among 34 candidates seeking the seat being vacated by retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer, a liberal favorite first elected a generation ago, in 1992.

Under California election rules, only two candidates – the top vote-getters – advance to the November election.

As I recall she kept a townhouse in Garden Grove(middle class) so as to be officially in her district, but always lived in Palos Verdes(exclusive)

“Not sitting it out. Voting for a Republican.

Sanchez has her operatives trolling on FR. She is desperate.

Louisiana has had this system since 1975. For years, Democrats faced other Democrats in general elections; this is now much less likely to occur except in Democrat rotten boroughs. All of CA nearly meets the definition of a “rotten borough”.

She’s had houses in Anaheim as well. Moved around a lot from what I heard.

And in many instances, it does not benefit Conservatives. If you end up with two leftist Democrats, Republicans have no choice, but if you end up with two Republicans, almost always the more left-leaning one wins (with Dems providing the margin of victory). Only in the LA Atty Gen race did the more Conservative Republican (Landry) prevail over the ex-Democrat turned Republican (Caldwell).

What are you talking about?

“A rotten or pocket borough, more formally known as a nomination borough or proprietarial borough, was a parliamentary borough or constituency in England, Great Britain, and the United Kingdom in existence prior to the Reform Act 1832 which had a very small electorate and could be used by a patron to gain unrepresentative influence within the Unreformed House of Commons.”

California is doomed. The 8.0 earthquake breaking off Sodom by the bay and tossing it into the ocean can’t come soon enough.

California is a lost cause. It is now a one party commie democrat state and getting worse all the time.

Conservatives are leaving in droves. The only people coming in are commie libs and Democrat voting immigrants.

It is over.

There are 7 registered Democrats for every 4 registered Republicans in California. Almost a 2 to 1 ratio of Commie libs over Conservatives.

Your best bet is to leave California and go save a purple state from going blue. That’s my plan.

You are doing great! Don't blow it now! Write in a Republican, but don't ask for voters to pull the lever for a Democrat on FR.

I agree with Auh and Continental, Harris is a threat to run for P/VP in the future, we could cause a career setback for her by electing Sanchez instead.

In addition Sanchez made a comment that up to 20% of Muslims support terrorism, that’s a very very low estimate but much higher than the tiny % that most libs would have you believe.

As distasteful as it is to vote for the original POS elected due to the votes of illegals, what we have here is a binary choice between awful and worse, I would vote awful if lived there and urge CA Republicans to do so rather than sitting on their hands. This new election system has screwed us, we can screw them back a little by throwing up a roadblock to the ascension of their latest hyped-up “star”, Harris.

2014 saw a D/D runoff for the officially non-partisan post of State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Republicans could have secured the election of the more moderate rat, but failed to do so and the wholly union owned incumbent won the runoff.

worth the attempt, but futile. trying to get GOPers to vote for a Hispanic DEM. The Stupid Party has deep contacts at the grassroots.

Okay. I hope Sanchez wins between the two. I guess it’s the lesser of the two evils.

I am not in California so I really don’t know anything about Harris. I really haven’t followed Sanchez either.

Thankfully, I live in Alabama and have much better choices. I thank very highly of both senators Richard Shelby and Jeff Sessions.

“Conservatives are leaving in droves.”

This began happening in the late 1980’s. I didn’t know that it was still going on. Where are they going?
