Donald Trump’s ground game
Gant News ^ | June 9, 2016

The presumptive GOP nominee has argued he can put as many as 15 states into play this fall, but he lags far behind Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton in building up troops for a general election battle. Rather than building out teams of his own hires in swing states — the model previous nominees like Mitt Romney and John McCain relied on — Trump is signaling to the Republican National Committee and state parties that he will rely on them to take the lead in organizing key toss up states.

“I’ll say that as far as building the infrastructure of a campaign, the RNC has been doing it for many years,” Trump said at a news conference late last month in North Dakota. RNC Chairman Reince Priebus “has really upped it, and all over the country, they have very good people. And part of the benefit is we get to use those people.”

Meanwhile, RNC officials still aren’t even sure where the campaign has already deployed staffers. Trump’s field organization is a patchwork of aides, some paid, some retained on a volunteer basis and many left over from the Republican primaries. While he has campaign chiefs in Florida — and solidly blue states like Washington and New York — in crucial battlegrounds including Ohio and Colorado, Trump doesn’t have so much as a state director.

One of Rick Wiley’s top tasks before he was ousted as political director after just six weeks on the job was organizing, hiring and redeploying field troops. But his sudden firing stalled the hiring process in battleground states and left the campaign hustling to replace him at a pivotal moment when traditional campaigns are rapidly ramping up on the ground.

Trump currently has no ground operation in Ohio and very little of one in Pennsylvania. That won’t help Republicans in the down-ballot races.

If you check the states that Trump won, you will notice that in several states he won every demographic, and every county. In other states he lost 1, 2 or 3 counties. I don’t think that happens by accident. Perhaps there is a more highly developed ground game than anyone realizes.

There’s a reason Milt Romley is a millionaire and Donald Trump is a billionaire.

I hope you’re right.

Trump will have a much harder time getting an agenda passed if Democrats win Congress.

I appreciate Trump’s frugality and it would be awesome to apply that approach to running our country.
I just pray that, with so so much at stake, it doesn’t backfire and cost him, especially in GOTV operations!!!

Me thinks the RNC won’t be too quick to help either. But you can count on Jeb, Kasich, Mitt, and Paul Ryan to quickly condemn anything Trump says.

This article is b/s. Wishful thinking. All the RNC wants to know is right here:

So Trump’s been doing it wrong and he needs to change the way he’s doing it?

Trump can win on personal appeal, but what about other Republicans running for Congress and state offices this year? He won’t be able to build the wall or repeal Obamacare if Democrats win Congress.

We haven’t even had the convention yet. Why would a candidate deploy troops if they didn’t get enough delegates? There is plenty of time.

Ideally, it would be wonderful if his strategy worked to win the General Election.
It’s just that I’m a bit nervous right now, especially after the pounding he’s taken from the judge issue for over 2 weeks.
It seems to have done some damage because Fox News just released their new poll and he’s lost 6 points since last month.
Also, I fear the MSM will collude with the democrats to deny him much of the earned media (free airtime) that proved so successful for him in the primary season. His constant press bashing, albeit richly deserved, may come back to bite him. The cable networks may seek retaliation.
I suppose I’ll just keep praying with all my heart that it all works the way he intends.

If Trump loses in November the one person most directly responsible for it will be Ted Cruz.

Instead of trying to swing his 5.5 million voters to Trump he is doing his best to keep them for voting for Trump.

Instead of encouraging his volunteers in all states to work for Trump he is doing his best to prevent it.

A pox on Ted Cruz, Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham and John Kasich. May they rot in hell.

This election would be sown up if it weren’t for those four fighting for the other side.

We haven’t ben to the convention yet. Plenty of time for Cruz to come aboard with a lot of energy.
