Trump backs Ellmers in first congressional endorsement

Donald Trump has inserted himself into one of the most contentious House primaries in the country this weekend, endorsing GOP Rep. Renee Ellmers in her member-versus-member race in North Carolina.

Trump makes a personal appeal to voters to back Ellmers in a robocall released Saturday. She was "the first congresswoman to endorse me and she really was terrific and boy, is she a fighter," Trump says in the call. It is the first time this election that Trump has picked sides in a congressional race.

Well, she’s easily the prettiest of the candidates, and Trump always reminds us that he loves women. Maybe it has to do with the female vote?

[vs.] Rep. George Holding and two-time Senate candidate Greg Brannon in a June 7 Republican primary for a new district... Powerful conservative groups like Americans for Prosperity and the Club for Growth have been working against Ellmers for weeks...

McCarthy was next in line to be Speaker of the House when Boehner stepped down. He removed himself from contention for “personal reasons” after other congressmen got letters threatening to spill the beans on a scandal. He then removed himself from contention “for personal reasons.”

Renee Ellmers was named at the time as the personal reason.

Paul Ryan got the job instead.

I have no personal knowledge, just memories of the event. It’s easily googled.

Renee Ellmers needs to go!

Ellmers says NO to deporting illegals who molest kids, beat their spouses

http://dailyhaymaker.com/?p=10237

“In the end, the House approved the DeSantis amendment 278-149 vote. Thirty-five Democrats voted with Republicans on this measure, and one Republican voted against it.”

Guess who that ONE REPUBLICAN was.

That's nonsense. Why would Trump endorse someone who doesn't back the cornerstone of his campaign?

What is Holding like?

I don't know if this is true but it's from the Renee For Congress facebook page. Apparently George Holding is very low energy, loves commoncore, lobbyists, and apparently doesn't want to make America Great Again.

It's simple. George Holding voted TO KEEP COMMON CORE & NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. I voted to END federal interference in state standards and END the federal mandates on states to adopt the COMMON CORE State Standards. On June 7th, remember that Congresswoman Renee Ellmers VOTED TO REPEAL COMMON CORE AND NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND. #StopCommonCore #StandwithRenee #CommonCoreGeorge

What in the WORLD do Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and #CommonCoreGeorge have in common? They love to take extravagant trips around the WORLD on YOUR money. George Holding inherited millions, yet spends YOUR tax dollars on lavish international travel — as though it was his own money. He’s no conservative, and we must hold him accountable on Election Day. LIKE and SHARE to spread the word!

#JetSetGeorge #CommonCoreGeorge

I'm proud to have been the first female member of Congress to endorse Donald Trump for President. Now I'm running for re-election so I can lead the fight in Congress to implement our conservative North Carolina values. Re-Elect Renee Ellmers on June 7th, and together we can Make America Great Again! #StandWithRenee #MakeAmericaGreatAgain

My opponent George Holding made sure to get another nap in after voting against North Carolina road projects, our family farms, disease prevention and even funding for our troops. #LowEnergy #NotForUs

George seems to think working with the N.C. Congressional delegation, including our two Republican senators, to craft an agenda for entitlement reforms is beneath him, but we have learned traveling the world to collect money from lobbyists isn’t.

George says he voted against the farm bill because it didn't contain enough SNAP reforms, but when all of our NC Republican congressional delegation including our two senators joined together to work on crafting conservative entitlement reforms to SNAP and other programs he shirked his responsibilities. Instead he went to Florida to raise money for his campaign.. Where are his priorities? You have to show up to lead. I will continue to fight for conservative solutions for our state, our farmer and our families.

Behind the scenes look at my interview with The Hill discussing Donald Trump. I look forward to being a guest on Fox News' On the Record with Greta Van Susteren tomorrow night. Be sure to tune in!

Protecting family-owned farms is one of my top priorities. That’s why I was proud to stand with the NC Poultry Federation and National Chicken Council to support the Farm Bill. Sadly, my opponent caved into Washington special interests and didn’t vote the right way. I’ll always put North Carolina first.

Here is what I call the D.C. Status Quo Triumvirate. George Holding happens to fit every angle of it: He panders to special interest groups, is a pawn of House leadership and is easily influenced by everyone except his constituents.

I don't know if this is true but it's from the Renee For Congress facebook page.

You can very easily tell the difference between the two. Pictures don't lie.

That’s what I understand from a friend/conservative radio host who’s very familiar with McCarthy - he’s in her district.

>>Are we back to caring about that? It gets confusing. <<

I hope we never stopped caring about that. It’s also in Jim’s mission statement for FR, which is listed on the front page:

Statement by the founder of Free Republic

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1103363/posts

“As a conservative site, Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, pacifism, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc.”

You may not care. But you don’t speak for the whole of the site.

Adding:

I think I may have misread your post as a serious statement against the pro-life stance. I apologize.

In general, I have seen posters seriously reject a pro-life stance here (and recently), which is why I misread your post. I’m sorry about that... I hope anyone who thinks that we don’t need to pay attention to that reconsiders, and quickly.

Thanks.

Trump wins again! (NOT!)

Ellmers currently in third, just 21% of the vote.
