Trump backs Ellmers in first congressional endorsement

Donald Trump has inserted himself into one of the most contentious House primaries in the country this weekend, endorsing GOP Rep. Renee Ellmers in her member-versus-member race in North Carolina.

Trump makes a personal appeal to voters to back Ellmers in a robocall released Saturday. She was "the first congresswoman to endorse me and she really was terrific and boy, is she a fighter," Trump says in the call. It is the first time this election that Trump has picked sides in a congressional race.

Look at her good adversaries.

And who would that be? Holding? Brannon? I don't like any of them.
Not in the district so I can't do anything about it.

What did we expect him to endorse? Ellmers was the first woman in Congress to endorse Trump. NC chose Trump and Ellmers stands behind Trump. Her opponent stands behind the Club For Growth and was a big supporter of the never trump crowd.

An open adulterer -ess — in the House of Representatives —

is a DISGRACE. And she knows it.

She is now going for Trump to save her disgrace.

whatever else you can say of her, she was smart enough to get on board early with Trump. She was listening to her voters, whereas the rest were lecturing their voters...

Okay, you can’t throw the scandalous tidbits out there without giving details. I would just be happy with how you know this information.

Or are you repeating rumors that everyone assumes is true?

Is she the conservative in the race?

You mean like Ryan-conservative? Or like Romney... severely-conservative?

They've bastardized that word now, and I hate them for it.

She was the first congresswoman to endorse him back when he was a pariah. Her opponent did not. You snooze, you lose.

If Trump is endorsing her I can only assume she is.

She single handedly derailed pro-life legislation in Congress.

Are we back to caring about that? It gets confusing.

1. 2A is most important. If he starts endorsing weak candidates in that area, that’s another thing entirely.

2. Anything could be going on behind the scenes. We know Trump is big on loyalty and she was the 1st to endorse him. If he endorses someone who stuck their neck out like that, it encourages others to do the same.

3. He may have made an agreement with McCarthy. “You get on the Train and stop the NeverTrump nonsense, and I’ll look into endorsing your friend. Maybe. We’ll see.”

4. Wouldn’t it be rich if Trump does NOT publicly endorse Ryan against his primary opponent Paul Nehlen? It would send a message to everyone that it pays to get on the trump train. Not only that, if Ryan ends up getting Cantored, consider that a double-message. :-) (Shameless plug: http://www.paulnehlen.com)

5. Or Trump may have just screwed up royally and this is the beginning of a pattern. Considering his winning record thus far, I’ll go with “one of the above” right now unless/until he starts displaying a definite pattern of poor judgment. The man is the best there is in negotiating, if you want to call it that. After reading his books, I tend to visualize it as him telling his adversaries how the cow ate the cabbage. :-)

“Okay, you can’t throw the scandalous tidbits out there without giving details. I would just be happy with how you know this information.”

It is well-documented that these two spent time together outside of their work in the Congress. When you are married and your spouse lives hundreds or even thousands of miles away, it seems appropriate to avoid appearances that give rise to untoward thoughts of others, and to keep things square with your spouse. That said, you are free to draw your own conclusions, but remember the first thing cheaters do is deny there is anything going on. They are, after all, members of Congress so we have come to expect abhorrent behavior as the norm for them. I stand ready for you to prove me wrong.

My vague recollection is that one of them ended up being open about admitting to the on-going, apparently, affair.
No guessing, just fact. Did McCarthy leave or something?

There have been lingering stories here in California about McCarthy’s ongoing sexual proclivities. Renee Elmers is not the only skirt he’s reportedly chased. No wonder we get no action from our elected reps, for most of the time the majority of their “blood flow” is to their “little brains!”
