PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- A Clallam County bus driver is being called a hero, after a violent attack on board her bus that was caught on surveillance video.
A look at the video, first obtained by Q13 News, shows the terrible beatdown of an elderly passenger and the one move by the bus driver that kept the attacker from possibly hijacking the bus.
It started out like any other Saturday afternoon -- people getting on a bus in Port Angeles. But things quickly changed.
In the video, watch the man on the right. He stands and kicks an 80-year-old passenger in the face, then appears to choke her as she screams for help.
The driver stops the bus and stands, and the man then comes at her and grabs her neck. She's finally able to break away, open the doors and call for help.

The video shows that when the man told the driver to get going, she directed him to check the back door. She then jumped off the bus, shutting the door behind her, and had disconnected the battery, so he couldn’t drive off himself. Quick thinking in an emergency, when no one came to her aid, either.
Excuse me! A little help here. Did the evil-doer get caught? Have you noticed that local TV often does not finish the story?
Caught and in jail awaiting arraignment.
This occurred about 5 miles from my house. Probably just another nut case. There are lots of folks in this area that would have kicked this guys butt in a heartbeat, but apparently not on the bus at the time.
that's the kind of stupidity we have...
but gee, to actually stop an attack on an 80 yro woman, that would be just too messy....
the more I know of people the more I like dogs....
Yeah, I forgot about that.
Self-reliant, take-charge types - young and healthy enough to take on a violent nutcase - probably are going to be driving themselves around in cars, SUVs, and pick-ups.
Well, and apparently one such person was driving the bus in this case, so that's something.
By the way, at the end of the "Fox13" story on this incident, there was this statement:
We reached out to the driver, but she didn't wish to talk about the incident.
I wonder why. /s
Good for the driver. LOL I wouldn’t have talked to the media either.
Yes, he was caught. The driver locked him in on her way out, and disabled the bus. So he wasn’t going anywhere.
bump
Watched the video. Sad. The oppressor is mentally ill, probably schizophrenic and off his meds. Where is his father? Why is it that he is not diagnosed and taking his meds? My brother has the same handicap and gets violent when off his meds. Frightening for the young people on the bus. Again, where is his father?
Kelly Thomas was similarly psychotic and dreadfully pleaded for his father while the punk Manuel Ramos beat him to death in 2011. Heartbreaking.
Everyone needs a father, especially the handicapped.
OK, he was caught, but sorry! I cannot believe that the doors cannot be operated manually from the inside.
If there was, the attacker apparently didnt know how.
I take a bus quite a bit, and yes, they aren’t like buses of old. The door is electronically opened and shut. Typically drivers get off the bus and then go around to the driver’s side on the outside to shut and lock the door, which allows passengers to wait inside the bus while the driver takes a break between routes since no one can just get on the bus without paying. No one can get off, either, while the driver is gone. Here, though, the driver managed to shut the door while leaving the bus.
America can’t be great again with people like this.
Not Obama’s son, but maybe HER son?
I hope I’d have been on his sorry @$$ like stink on $hit. I won’t know until the opportunity arises.
