In a statement released through the White House he says, "A vital part of our Nation's proud heritage, African-American music exemplifies the creative spirit at the heart of American identity and is among the most innovative and powerful art the world has ever known. "

Almost 30 years ago, was driving on the freeway when one of them drove past me....and I was NOT in SoCal. AFAIK there were only two. And one of them was at Universal Studios a few years later (had my pic taken next to it).

We have a massive gay pride demo here in Pittsburgh every June. I had forgotten about it one year (not sure how since it dominates the local headlines) and I took my four year old to a reading class downtown. I couldn’t get home because the roads were closed and as we were sitting in the car a man in assless chaps strolled by along with another dude walking some man on a leash. Unbelievable.
