Fox News blew away its competition for the third month this year, new Nielsen data shows.
For the 3rd month this year @FoxNews was the most-watched basic cable net. That hasn't happened since 2003. pic.twitter.com/r6oxJj3ieL— TVNewser (@tvnewser) June 1, 2016
Fox took full advantage of this entertaining election season, producing some fascinating interviews with the candidates and the numbers speak for themselves.
MAY 2016 VS. MAY 2015 NIELSEN NUMBERS (7 day week, L+SD): TOTAL DAY FNC: 1,165,000 total viewers up 19% (216,000 in 25-54 up 11%) CNN: 584,000 total viewers up 33%; (173,000 in 25-54 up 20%) MSNBC: 481,000 total viewers up 61%; (124,000 in 25-54 up 49%)
Hannity ranked second in the demo in May, while Outnumbered -- a daytime news talk show that regularly features Townhalls own Katie Pavlich and Guy Benson -- delivered the largest increases year-over-year in viewers, up 23 percent in total viewers (1,352,000) and up 3 percent in the 25-54 demo (214,000).
The Fox Business Network has earned its own bragging rights. Not only are FBN ratings up 100 percent, but the network recently added 1.5 million subscribers.
One show in particular underscores FBNs overall success. Mornings with Maria, hosted by Maria Bartiromo, is only a year young and has been absolutely killing it at the 6 a.m. time slot.
I just had a meeting with my boss last week. Were up 120 percent and the demo is up 140 percent, Bartiromo told TVNewser. So the show has been gaining great traction.
Much of the networks success, the host explained, is thanks to their decision to focus on the 2016 race - not just the stock market.
What FBN is doinga lotis covering the 2016 campaign. Bartiromo believes politics fits right into the networks sweet spot, mixing coverage of news and business. I dont see another channel thats able to walk this balance with markets and politics, she told TVNewser. I feel Fox has great credibility not just on business, but the political story.
Meanwhile, CNN and MSNBC are fighting for second place
Isn’t FBN just another shill for Wall Street, like CNBC? After all it took one of their talking heads as its own.
That’s about all she offers.
Wasn’t Maria just a Wall Street shill from CNBC? I mean does she ever talk negatively about the market?
Can’t stand Bartaromo. Payne and Stuart Varney are outstanding. Cavuto is OK.
I get up and watch FBN getting ready for work. I have to outlast Bartaromo to get to Varney for 20 min before I go.
Sure, in ‘99 she looked great.
LOL! You’re probably correct. I have never watched her daily program on market opinion, but as this article indicates, her address of politics and TRUMP, on her Sunday show, has encouraged me and pleased me. I don’t even recall that she has mentioned the markets on her Sunday show. LOL! What do I know? :)
Me too and mine too.
Frankly I think the Fox Business covers things a lot better and certainly more fair than all the rest of the cable news networks.
I put this increase down to Charles Payne, Stuart Varney, and Lou Dobbs for the most part. They all do great jobs.
People feed up with Fox News moved over there.
Better news there
One America news is also good
Best for foreign news events
“I love Charles Payne.”
I do too. He looks like a big ol’ good-ol-boy galoofus, but speaks magnificently and is awesomely articulate. I just love the dichotomy. Not all the talking heads have to be blow-dried Brian Williams types.
She’d be a great co-host of Blue’s Clues.
All but one of the vid clips on the CNBC Roku stream the other day were anti-Trump.
I’m a Stuart Varney fan, myself. He recently became an official U.S. Citizen and he is very proud of that.
Except for Bret Brier, they have mostly conservatives with a brain on Fox Business.
I like Deidre Bolton
She was "back in the day"
She is still attractive, she's aging well.
