Bill Kristol’s Candidate: It’s ‘Important to Say’ White Working Class Communities ‘Deserve to Die’
Breitbart ^ | Breitbart | Breitbart

Posted on 06/01/2016 9:43:36 AM PDT by Brookhaven

While Donald Trump has called on the GOP to become a “worker’s party”— a development Sen. Jeff Sessions called for two years ago, ironically, in the pages of the National Review— French has defended the idea that white working-class communities “deserve to die.”

Specifically, French wrote a piece in support of Kevin D. Williamson, who had said:

The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible. Forget all your cheap theatrical Bruce Springsteen crap. Forget your sanctimony about struggling Rust Belt factory towns and your conspiracy theories about the wily Orientals stealing our jobs. Forget your goddamned gypsum, and, if he has a problem with that, forget Ed Burke, too. The white American underclass is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles. Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good. So does OxyContin. What they need isn’t analgesics, literal or political. They need real opportunity, which means that they need real change, which means that they need U-Haul.

French insists that the devastation of the working-class’ livelihoods is unrelated to failed federal policies such as mass immigration:

[I] have seen the challenges of the white working-class first-hand. Simply put, Americans are killing themselves and destroying their families at an alarming rate. No one is making them do it. The economy isn’t putting a bottle in their hand. Immigrants aren’t making them cheat on their wives or snort OxyContin. Obama isn’t walking them into the lawyer’s office to force them to file a bogus disability claim.

When readers responded with outrage to French’s piece, French doubled down in a post entitled “The Great White Working-Class Debate: Just Because I’m ‘Nasty’ Doesn’t Mean I’m Wrong.”

"Firstly, I do believe that there are communities that simply have to pack up. For example, coal is NEVER, NEVER coming back. The people who mined it need to deal with it. The people who CAUSED the collapse (i.e., the Uniparty) needed to create a good labor environment and improve the (once excellent) mobility of the US workforce so that they can move to where there are jobs."

That is the SINGULARLY F*CKING DUMBEST THING I've ever read on FreeRepublic. You did it. Congrats. Not the Buchananites, not the Tedlims, nothing but YOU. In 16 years here, NOTHING HAS EVEN COME CLOSE TO HOW STUPID YOU ARE. Even Bobo's admin is not that anti-intellectual, and freely admit that COAL IS NUMBER ONE IN THE UNITED STATES:

What is U.S. electricity generation by energy source?

In 2015, the United States generated about 4 trillion kilowatthours of electricity. About 67% of the electricity generated was from fossil fuels (coal, natural gas, and petroleum).

Major energy sources and percent share of total U.S. electricity generation in 2015:

  • Coal = 33%
  • Natural gas = 33%
  • Nuclear = 20%
  • Hydropower = 6%
  • Other renewables = 7%
    • Biomass = 1.6%
    • Geothermal = 0.4%
    • Solar = 0.6%
    • Wind = 4.7%

Why not include the part where he (Williamson) says “excessive and problematic as our current immigration levels are.” ? You are lying through your omission of the whole statement.

Look, if the gov’t is letting in illegals, not just letting them in but basically inviting them in, and they are taking your jobs, do you sit around and do nothing about it? Wait for the gov’t, that is causing the problem, to fix the problem? Get mired in the system that WANTS you to be beholden to them? Or do you acknowledge what is going and do everything in your power to take care of you, which may unfortunately mean getting yourself a Uhaul trailer and getting to a place where you stand a chance?

We (conservatives) have talked ad nauseam about all the high school graduates not needing to attend college, but instead going to a trade school? Why does that only apply to high school kids? Might not be what you want to do, might be a pretty damn hard thing to do, you might not think it’s fair that you have to do it (and maybe it isn’t!), but that doesn’t mean it can’t or shouldn’t be done. This is the ultimate in the conservative position of taking responsibility for yourself.

Why should I add Williamson’s qualifier....his main thrust was massive third world immigration was not a problem & French agreed with him, did he not ? That’s what you asked for right ? Proof that French sided with open borders....well you got it. Keep the rest of your lecturing to yourself....I could care less.

This is WHAT I know: if French gets enough votes Hillary gets in the White House. French is being used by the GOPe & is a degenerate.

That was not what his “main thrust” was at all. You are being disingenuous or lack in reading comprehension skills. You cannot look at a portion of the statement and come to the conclusion that you are coming to; well YOU can, but it’s incorrect. This isn’t an article about how open borders are great. It’s an article that makes one statement about immigration, that immigration is its own problem, and then goes on to discuss that regardless of that people have a responsibility to themselves and their families to do whatever they have to do to take care of themselves. Why are you against people taking person responsibility for themselves?

So, you are willing to lie about a man, make unfounded accusations about him, to keep Hillary out of the White House? That sure is the way it’s coming across. Principles man, principles. Why don’t you talk about why Trump is better, with some actual and accurate examples, instead of tearing down someone with lies and half truths?

Nobody is denying that coal is #1...for now. But in KY/WV, it’s not coming back because most of it is played out, it’s not particularly clean and other than it’s location, its at a price disadvantage to western coal, where they can basically open-pit mine it (pretty safely, too). And, as my other post pointed out, there simply won’t be any new coal plants built with the evll spectre of a Democratic administration never more than four years away. Obama killed its future, dead. Which is just about the only campaign promise that he kept, unfortunately.

Get lost you third rate clown....and shove it with the liar talk. You asked if he backed open borders & I gave you a quote where he did. I can’t help that you’re all butt-hurt now. Take your nonsense elsewhere.

These sort of “conservatives” really are as disgusting as the leftists. They push policies that harm regular hard-working Americans and then have the stunning hubris to blame and insult those same people they damaged for being damaged.

The GOPe are enemies of the American people, every bit as much as the Obama Democrats. That’s why there is Trump.

Recall that French’s publication, National Review, called Senate Sessions a “prostitute” for endorsing Trump. They are currently in the gutter and far from any moral high ground on any issue.

I’ve noticed a huge increase in progressive style abuse of language by GOPe types. Look at what is now “conservative”. It’s mind boggling to hear Amnesty Ryan and the rest spin progressive policies as “conservatism”.

There was nothing to research. All the articles are on National Review in plain view. I recall reading these articles a few months ago. The point being that working class communities are dysfunctional due to high rate of drug use and high percentage of out of wedlock children.

Truth can be painful at times. There was an article in the Washington Post a few years ago about a company wanting to build a factory in Danville, VA. Danville is a former textile town that has been in bad shape for decades and is a white working class area. I forget the name of the company, but the governor recruited this company to build in Virginia, but when the company was out scouting for locations, it also interviewed and tested potential factory workers. So many were on meth and other drugs, that the company decided to go elsewhere. So there is some truth to those articles and this has occurred in other communities. Rural news is not covered much, but there is a crisis out there.

That doesn't mean I think David French is qualified to be president. He has written many moving articles about the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and is mainstream conservative, but again, at best he would be a spoiler, if that.

What about the coming army of robots due to increasing the minimum wage to $15. They work all 3 shifts, don't call in sick, aren't late to work and do exactly as they are told. There are no benefits, no ss taxes, no nothing.

Exactly where are the lower skilled folks supposed to earn money for food and shelter?

I read an article in which a chain is testing robots to stock shelves...I forgot the chain's name. Wendy's admitted to testing robots preparing hamburgers in a restaurant, not in a test restaurant.

Yes, sadly there are towns like that. White working class communities have high drug usage and a very large percent of out of wedlock children. It is part of the decaying of society. My niece’s husband hails from a rural area in Penn. Whenever, they visit his parents, he points out the trailers and houses that are meth labs, etc. She says it is a huge problem in the rural county. Anyway, the original article written by Kevin Williamson that first created such a stir several months ago is very sobering, but not surprising.
