Bill de Blasio will be calling for all tire irons to be registered and require permits to remove one from the car trunk.
I think the reason was an assaulted wife. Kinda hard to judge lethal force with some weapons.
As to why Mr. Diallo didn’t stop to call NYPD, he might have recalled what happened to Amadou Diallo, who was venilated by NYPD.

Word must have gotten out in the Guinea community.
Again - NOT guilty. Next . . . . .
The pervert woulda been found at the bottom of my elevator shaft with said tire iron barely visible under high intensity lights from ‘da proctologist (sp). Just sayin’ . . . .
Disagree, seem quite reasonable to me.
Great and appropriate link.
From your linked article: ‘You have a right to defend your daughter,’ Harmon told CNN at the time.
That’s Texas.
In New York or any other lib state, the father likely would have been charged. And they call us Texans “rednecks,” “idiots,” etc.
If the state insists on prosecution, ask for a jury trial.
Did you even read the article? The other guy was attacking him with a belt.
Never bring a belt to a tire-iron fight.
The shortest period of time that exists is a Plank Time, about 0.00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000531 seconds.
I’d acquit quicker than that...
Really demand a jury trial
Delivers what he got.
This is New York, he’ll be convicted of first degree murder. If the rapist was black, hell get a hate crime enhancement.
I wish I were on that jury. We would award him a medal.
“This guy seems to have gone overboard.”
Yes, overboard. He should have politely asked the alleged perpetrator to await the arrival of police. If the allged perp declined, he should have thanked him for his time. Let me guess, you have a “Feel the Bern” bumper sticker on your car, correct?
” fire the cop who arrested him.”
—
He probably would have been fired if he DIDN’T arrest him.
.
Never take a belt to a tire-iron butt whoopin.
Pin a medal on him and call it a day.
L
NY values rise again!
Wait a minute, let's look at this from another viewpoint. If it were cops going after the perp, they would have no hesitation in killing the guy. Particularly if he were brandishing a weapon (his belt) and threatening the cops. The husband continued the beating as long as the perp was lashing out with his belt. I say not guilty.
