Memorials to veterans in a Los Angeles neighborhood and a town in Kentucky, as well as a Civil War veterans cemetery in Virginia, were damaged as the nation prepares to mark Memorial Day, officials said.

A Vietnam War memorial in the Venice area of Los Angeles has been extensively defaced by graffiti. The vandalism occurred sometime during the past week, KCAL/KCBS-TV reported. The homespun memorial painted on a block-long wall on Pacific Avenue lists the names of American service members missing in action or otherwise unaccounted for in Southeast Asia.

News of the vandalism came as another veterans-related memorial was reported damaged in Henderson, Kentucky. Police say a Memorial Day cross display there that honors the names of 5,000 veterans of conflicts dating back to the Revolutionary War has been damaged by a driver who plowed through the crosses early Saturday.

In Virginia, the Petersburg National Battlefield has apparently has been looted, the National Park Service said. …

Mexican gang graffiti on the Vietnam Memorial wall, Venice CA. The same sort of crowd that shows up to throw rocks and wave Mexican flags at Trump rallies.

Normally I am for the Death Penalty for graffiti taggers, but in this case, they should be carved up real nice.

Veteran’s memorials are divisive. They are offensive toward people who are either (a) not veterans, or (b) don’t think America should exist as a country.

I would imagine the Left will make this argument before long, since their recent successes with their “get rid of Civil War memorials in the south” initiatives, as well as their successful actions to prohibit active-duty service members from wearing their uniforms at public events.

I would expect to see large-scale political movements coalesce around “Get Rid Of Shrines To Imperialist Wars” themes in the coming years.

Under Obama, it has become acceptable to hate.

Liberals have always loved hate; it’s just that it is socially acceptable now.

I can’t wait for Trump to bring back decency. We’ve been without it for too long.

I’m pretty sure that graffiti says ‘Never Trump’ in Mexican.

From a report I saw, it was one of Obola’s sons that tore up the Kentucky site.

Veteran’s memorials are divisive. They are offensive toward people who are either (a) not veterans, or (b) don’t think America should exist as a country.

I think it's a lot of the latter.

That graffiti looks gang-related -- illegal alien gang-related.

In all neighborhoods of our country, there is a ubiquitous reminder of the federal government on every third street corner: a cobalt-blue metal box with a "United States Postal Service" label.

In my general neighborhood, a deep-blue one thick with Bernie campaign signs (and the occasional Hillary one too), there are apparently a lot of people who find the term "United States" offensive enough that they deface these mail collection boxes with spray paint (generally black and green, interesting color choices, smacks of Islam) enough to obliterate the name completely.

In some cases USPS has given up and spray-painted the entire box blue, covering the "United States Postal Service" label completely (though "U.S. Mail" is still embossed on the metal and is legible).

The neighborhoods in which this sort of defacement is prominent seem to also include a lot of (a) "progressives" (involved in education, local government, or some form of nonprofit), or (b) illegal aliens. The consistent choice of paint colors and the focus on the "United States" label tells me it's one group which has been given specific orders.

I look forward to living in a country, under our new President Trump, where no one would dare deface the name of the United States.

La Raza Mexicans have contempt for America even when they have lived here their whole lives. An astounding sense of entitlement while they piss on the America that they live in but don’t love. Graffiti and thug behavior are two parts of it.

There’s plenty of Mexicans who don’t act like this, but then they aren’t the ones selling historic markers as metal scrap and defacing American monuments.

And let’s not forget the Left’s allies in this, the Michael Medveds and Nikki Haleys.

“I can’t even make out what that is supposed to say..........if anything....”

Oh it definitely says something. The large letters are too stylized for me to make out but the tagger and rival gangs know what it means. Some of it is code that is pretty standard, there are cop sites that break down some of this. The local cops will know what group did it, sometimes even which gang member did it.

I admit I am not a veteran, but why would I be offended by a veterans’ memorial? FWICS, between 6 and 7 percent of the US population are veterans, so why would memorials in their honor offend up to 94 percent of the US population?

Those of us who were fortunate enough not to die in Viet Nam owe something to those who did. Don’t let this happen again. Let the authorities find these defacers () at the scene. (I removed a word)
