Sen. Rubio faces pressure to run for re-election to Senate

Sen. Marco Rubio is facing intense pressure to run for re-election to his Florida Senate seat, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell taking the lead in a campaign to get him to reconsider his plans to retire.

Republicans fear that if Rubio doesn’t run for a second term they could lose his seat. And if Republicans lose Florida they increase their odds of losing their Senate majority altogether. […]

At least one Republican, Sen. Bob Corker of Tennessee, subsequently took the unusual step of issuing a public statement calling Rubio a “very valuable member of the Senate” and disclosing that “earlier this afternoon, I strongly encouraged him to reconsider his decision and seek re-election.” …

“This seats are hard enough to get in the first place. Run Marco. And then run for Gov. in 2 years. Appoint your successor.”

This is the circular logic that’s gotten us to where we are with the GOPe! Screw Marco, he’s “tired of the job ( by his own admission)” and he would probably loose based on his presidential nominee performance in Florida.

Poll data shows that @marcorubio does by far the best in holding onto his Senate seat in Florida. Important to keep the MAJORITY. Run Marco!

I live in Florida, I voted to put Rubio in the senate, and I will vote against the lying punk if he runs again.

I don’t like being lied to.

Jeb Bush got 43,500 primary votes on March 15 in Florida, even after dropping out on February 20. 5th place.

Name recognition works in Florida, overmedicated sunstrokes matter.

I heard of that guy somewhere.....

I’d vote for the little bastard if it means keeping the Senate.

If he doesn’t run, the communist lawyer Grayson will take the seat in a pick up for the Democrat communist party.

I know Marco and despite getting together with schmucky chuckle for immigration reform,he understands that without more Hispanics in the GOP we will forever be in the minority. It is a fact of life that Latinos,Hispanics, whatever are procreating at a much higher rate than Caucasians, and they are recruited by dirty dems, even though Cubans are decidedly more conservative and make good pubbies. Marco thought he could recruit a great number of Latinos to the GOP by this legislation,it did not work out,and he was condemned for trying. We need to use other means or be in the political wilderness forever. We can do this,we need to plan it out, strategize, and then go all out to bring new good recruits from the Hispanic community.

What’s the difference?

Dems didn’t lie to me.

Marco Rubio did.

I never said I want a pure 100% conservative.

I want someone who isn’t going to lie to my face.

You lie to your voters, you get fired, simple as that.

Do you know how to keep the majority, Donald?

By doing what you say.

Do you know how to lose the majority?

By not.

A man’s word in his bond. A man without his word is nothing.

Important lessons in life.

There is no way you are going to get a majority of hispanic to become Republican and their is also no way you are going to gain votes by amnesty. They are still going to vote dem.

I doubt he would lose either the primary or general election if he chose to reenter the race, which I doubt he will. Don’t mistake the population of Florida for the population of this website, his name is far from mud outside these walls. The filing deadline is June 24.

Congressman Ron DeSantis is the conservative choice. And RINO Congressman David Jolly, who is WELL to the left of Rubio is the man we want to keep from winning the nomination.

You don't have to get 75 percent, just a whole lot more than we have now. A very large number are ignorant of facts, the informed vote pubbie. It takes effort, and planning not negative we can't attitude. Rome was not built in a day,we do not arbitrarily give up,our ancestors didn't,and we should not either.

The problem is his “name” is associated with things like amnesty, lying, traitorous behavior, backstabbing, laziness, etc.

That a bit of the echo chamber response at FR...

I guarantee you ask any random 100 Floridians what their opinion of Marco Rubio is...

Probably, the only word you used might get a bit of traction would be "amnesty"...the rest would fall way down your list of adjectives...

Depending on which part of Florida, that might be even be a positive...!!!
