Thursday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” NBC chief Washington correspondent Andrea Mitchell reacted to a State Department Inspector General report criticizing Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server while she was serving as President Barack Obama’s secretary of state.
Mitchell first dismissed the Clinton campaign’s defense, comparing Clinton’s behavior to that of her predecessor former Secretary of State Colin Powell and then declared the report to be hard to be seen as “anything but devastating.”
“It was not allowed to not return those records before she left the State Department,” Mitchell said. “She violated the official records act according to her own State Department IG appointed by President Obama. What you have shown just now, Mika, it completely undercuts the argument she’s been making for more than a year just as she’s trying to persuade voters she’s untrustworthy. I think the most surprising and shocking thing is their reaction. Claiming this is the same as what former secretaries did, comparison to Colin Powell. The facts are Colin Powell was the first secretary of state to ever use email. He used it specifically to try to launch the State Department into the new century and try to get people to communicate by email.”
“He was using it by example,” she continued. “He did use personal emails. He didn’t always separate them, but it was completely aboveboard — everybody in the State Department knew what he was doing. It was not, in fact, violating a rule that was put in place under Clinton, not after she left — It was put in place under Clinton and she was warned before hand of decades of this records act that prohibits you to leave the State Department, to leave any agency and not turn over your records.

Actually, it wasn’t just her privacy per se she valued, but evading the Freedom of Information Act was what she was actually trying to accomplish. Thus, her crimes are compounded: evading FOIA and compromising national security to do it.
To avoid scrutiny, and specifically, sidestep government transparency and FOIA requirements.
Hillary decided that she would be the arbiter of what got preserved, and what disappeared.
It stinks to high heaven against the backdrop of her activity with the Clinton Foundation and the influence peddling that obviously occurred.
This is just blatant, in-your-face graft, cronyism, and corruption.
That even Democrats could vote for this crook is unbelievable...
if you news-google hillary, all the news today is negative for her. hillary does not seem to be making any speeches or answering any questions at any news conferences (trump is in the open, fielding questions in news conferences and making speeches every day, criticizing hillary). sanders is criticizing hillary. hillary is like a beached whale. or maybe hillary is like ahab waving from moby dick, inviting the democrat party to take one last ride with her on her sordid record of failure and treason as secretary of state.
this lack of counter-narrative cannot be escaping the notice of the news media. maybe the smart ones are jumping off the hillary ship before it be claimed that they are doing it just to be fashionable, or just to be following the herd.

She was trying to evade the Freedom of Information Act by using private email addresses maintained on private email servers kept in her bathroom. In the process, she grossly compromised national security, thus compounding her original felony.
While she will still likely be the nominee (though every day her iron grip slips more), we DON’T need her to be to win. Trump is in hyper-drive right now. We are getting near the point where he could beat anyone the Democrats put up.
Andrea Mitchell was a White House agent during the 1990’s, alerting the Clinton White House whenever negative press was coming their way. For her to admit how egregious Hillary Clinton’s conduct was is astonishing. Mitchell must have been shocked out of her partisan bias.

If Andrea was ACTUALLY an objective reporter, then she wouldn’t need to be judging the political scene in the first place, but simply reporting the facts along with objective analysis not particularly requiring judgement of the political scene.
Andrea is devastated because she just realized that the race horse she’s been touting to the punters is lame.

I don’t think so. Prior to the Dem convention, should it become obvious that Hillary is going to be slaughtered in the general election, all obama needs to do is phone her up and notify her that she needs to bow out due to “health” reasons because an indictment is coming out against her criminal activities if she doesn’t, whereas if she does withdraw, then a full Presidential pardon awaits her on the last day of obama’s Presidency. The classic stick and carrot scenario.

Why hasn't anyone in the media sat down for an interview with Colin Powell to ask him if what Hillary has done is no different from what he did as Secretary of State?
imho a hillary victory in november will tank the stock market permanently. heck, the stock market might even send a preview signal in july if hillary wins the democrat nomination. i almost feel sorry for the democrats.

Hillary will get a call from an intermediary passing on Obama’s decision. He can easily have the assets of the Clinton’s foundations frozen, allow the DOJ to empanel a grand jury, and subject her to potential indictment. Obama literally has her financial lifeline in his hands.
I suspect some of the Clintonistas such as McAuliffe and Blumenthal may be charged just to send her a message. The Podestas are low hanging fruit too after the revelations in the Panama Papers. Hillary’s world is going to be rocked hard and not in a good way.
It doesn’t matter what she knows. She’s headed for an offer she can’t refuse. She’ll have to withdraw from the race to get the pardon. By the convention it will most likely be “Hillary who?” as the Democrats circle the wagons around Biden.
If Hillary was a chicken she’d be extra crispy.
Powell might just dodge the question. He's gone pretty far down the internationalist establishment road and I wouldn't be too surprised if he considers it professional courtesy. I'd love to be wrong about that.
