So let me get this straight: You trade one drug addiction for a different drug addiction?

Meaning that illicit drug dealers lose money while politically connected drug dealers make money.

Uh-huh.

I guess this is what ‘help’ looks like in post-Christian America.

I saw a cartoon where Krusty the clown was covered with little patches. He calls for another nicotine patch and tells the person, “I think there’s an open spot somewhere on my *ss.”

Sadly that’s all that opiate addiction aids really ever are. The horrors of methadone are well known. I’m lucky to not care for opiates at all, but for so many it’s such a crippling nightmare.

I personally am hoping for a thorazine patch. Then applying it to the forehead of every member of the present congress and senate.

It’s really the same addiction. Instead of shooting up to get high they get just enough to keep from getting sick without being high and possibly overdosing. It might help some, but I bet a lot of addicts would still do heroin for the high. On the whole though I think it’s better to treat addiction as a medical problem rather than a criminal one. I’m speaking as someone who lost people near and dear to me to heroin addiction.

There’s nothing new here except better technology, it’s the same basic concept as a methadone program. Managing the addiction to minimize the impact of it is a lot easier than getting someone completely off the drug when it comes to opiates.

When you are hooked on those, the addiction will never completely go away. People stop using for years or even decades and then can relapse in the blink of an eye.

“Christian America” didn’t even do anything except advise people to temperance for over a hundred years. They actually believed on the Savior, imagine that, instead of ginning up a poor substitute in Caesar.

As the daughter of two meth-heads you have my sincere sympathies.

Great. So, working taxpayers are going to have to pay even more to keep Democrat druggies doped up for free under their “disability” benefits.
