Bernie Sanders Agrees to Debate Donald Trump

LANCASTER, California — In the latest twist to this unpredictable 2016 presidential race, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders independently agreed Wednesday night to debate each other.

On ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Trump was asked if he would consider holding a debate with Sanders. Trump agreed to the idea.

"If he paid a sum toward charity I would love to do that," said the business mogul, noting that a Sanders vs. Trump debate "would have such high ratings."

Sanders quickly responded with a tweet reading, "Game On. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7th primary."

Cue Mark Levin tonight ranting about how Trump refused to debate Ted Cruz one-on-one.

Yep! The difference is that Cruz had no shot at winning the delegate count or the popular vote. As it's turning out, Bernie may get close or even win the voted-for delegates, with Hillary! earning the nomination on the strength of superdelegates.

That would be the ultimate tear-the-Dem-party-in-two move. The candidate who won the hearts of "the people" loses to the candidate supported by the "party apparatchiks". Can't get more un-Democratic than that!

On the contrary, I expect Trump to praise him for being an honest and principled guy. Give Hillary a double-dose of heartburn there.

I don’t expect Hillary to be indicted. I was saying that months ago with the caveat she would not be the Democrat nominee. Every event since then has justified my opinion.

Trump will pick someone as VP who is schooled in the so-called political process in this country. We’ll see a VP that actually plays a part in governing and who may succeed Trump in either four or eight years.

If this happens, it’s a great move by Trump: by debating Bernie, it sends a clear message that Hillary is such a nonentity that she isn’t even worth the trouble of a debate.

LOL. That may be more true then you know. It wouldn’t surprise me if Trump has some analysts reading Free Republic. Trump is quite adept at leveraging social media and divining trends and ideas.

How about the TEA PARTY?

So I was a Ted Cruz supporter right up to the time he pulled out. I have a really hard time with Trump because he is no conservative.

This was the mantra of the Cruz campaign.

I submit to you that Donald Trump is far more Conservative than both the current Republican leadership and the two prior GOP nominees. This is the reason for the divide between the establishment and Trump, and it all starts with Amnesty.

I see a slightly more insidious motive for Trump. This may be a stretch but here I go. Hillary was mortally wounded in the IG report. It is over for her. The Democrat party will not allow bernie to be the nominee. He is anti their establishment and he will get slaughtered by Trump. The Party will give her the nomination but she will resign based on poor health and her “grand child” needs her. Obama will grant her pre indictment clemency . Since the convention has been held, there will be a special “closed” convention of State “designates”. No press or cameras!! . Bernie will go wild but the nominee will shock you. Trump wants to build up bernie as much as he can to accentuate this trickery on bernie and infuriate his communist followers. The “debate” will be fun to watch . Trump will bait bernie on how he has been screwed. Its all a plan.

I’ve got my fingers crossed for a Trump vs. Biden vs. Sanders ballot in November. That’s my call.

“This makes no sense at all. Why should Trump debate Bernie, if he’s not going to go up against him (we assume) in November?”

It does seem odd in the surface. But everything brilliant Trump has done has been something odd, not ‘normal’ by politician standards.

It serves 3 things I can see:
1) Trump needs Bernie voters in the fall. If he goes soft against Bernie and keeps it to an anti-Hillary debate, some may back Trump when Bernie leaves the race.
2) It might help Bernie win CA, which puts the Democrat race into turmoil.
3) it makes Hillary look irrelevant/scared

Really?

No doubt the networks have already started a bidding war to carry this debate, as it will be the best political theater since TV was invented, with ratings totally through the roof, maybe greater than a Superbowl. And best of all, Irrelevant Hillary will be watching on the sidelines, stewing in her own juices.

Also, as others too have pointed out, a debate like this would be totally brilliant for Trump on multiple levels: Trump could only come out of this win-win, whereas no matter what happens for Bernie, this will be a MAJOR lose-lose for the Democrats and for Irrelevant Hillary herself, as it would have a shattering impact on the Democrat race. Basically, a debate like this is letting Trump inside the Democrat party to completely blow it up.

The Democrats couldn’t have imagined going up against someone like Trump in their wildest nightmares, and yet here he is and there they are.

“Watch Debbie Wasserman go absolutely ape-sh*t nuts over this.”

Mayonnaise Hair is on VERY thin ice right now, about to get her ass dumped out of the DNC Chair. She pretty much has only two choices anyway about this matter: shitt or wind her watch.

“Having said that, Trump’s agreement to debate Sanders is literally brilliant. What a way to absolutely pound on Hillary and get Sanders to do it also. The amount of attention this debate would raise will be overwhelming. I love how Trump keeps the message on himself and keeps Hillary off balance... “

Yep.

“Trump will go easy on him as long as he behaves.

Trump has no interest in destroying Bernie.

He wants some of his voters. He also wants Bernie to win the CA primary.”

That is how I see it. They both want to stick it to Hillary and see it as a win/win for both of them. I think they will go easy on each other.

Trump thinks outside the box and he recognizes an opportunity when he sees it. Hillary plays a good game of checkers; Trump plays 3-D chess. I can’t wait to hear Scott Adams, the creator of Dilbert comment on this.

“I don’t expect Hillary to be indicted.”

I agree. But I think there’s one exception, namely, if Hillary sinks so badly that she’s obviously gonna get slaughtered by Trump and refuses to bow out before the Dem convention, then Obama will make sure she’s indicted to get her off the stage. (More likely, however, the THREAT of indictment along with the carrot of a pardon should be enough for her to bow out for “health” reasons.)

“can you imagine the call Bernie received from Debbie?”

Debbie is on thin ice as it is and her power is not what it used to be. Hahahaha. Bernie would just tell her to stuff it.
