LANCASTER, California — In the latest twist to this unpredictable 2016 presidential race, presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders independently agreed Wednesday night to debate each other.

On ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Trump was asked if he would consider holding a debate with Sanders. Trump agreed to the idea.

"If he paid a sum toward charity I would love to do that," said the business mogul, noting that a Sanders vs. Trump debate "would have such high ratings."

Sanders quickly responded with a tweet reading, "Game On. I look forward to debating Donald Trump in California before the June 7th primary."

Somehow I doubt that Bernie in his 74 years ever had anyone publicly call BS to his face

Assuming the likely “ progressive moderators” they choose will allow Trump to speak without emotion laden screeds by the communist

RoseofTexas to Starboard "If Trump really wants to drive deeper wooden steak into the shedevil beast chances he outta suggest to fox that he would take hitlerys spot to debate Sanders. That would absolutely bring all of Sanders voters to him after the Dnc stabs Sanders in the back. I think it would be a brilliant move!"

Hehehehee someone read my post....:)

Watch Debbie Wasserman go absolutely ape-sh*t nuts over this.

“Sanders is not the presumptive nominee he doesn’t get to debate the Republicans!”

This is good for Trump on so many levels, and bad for Hillary on so many levels.

Donald is fearless and not crippled by PC.
If this debate happens, he will destroy the commie- just as he will Hillary.
He knows ALL the dirt on both, and is not afraid to use it.

However; Hillary will cheat, use voter fraud and use every trick in the dirty Lib book to try to defeat Donald.
That is why we MUST unite and put aside our anger that our candidate of choice dropped out of the race or whatever.

Donald is a good man who has heard the voice of WE THE PEOPLE, and has stepped in to try to try to undo the damage Obama has done, and make America great and respected again.

Although he is an outsider and not a politician, he is a brilliant businessman/CEO who knows HOW TO GET THINGS DONE. He will surround himself by equally brilliant advisors per his cabinet and others.
We need not be afraid of his inexperience.

We MUST make this the biggest Republican voter turn out in history- or it’s Hillary to continue Obama’s destruction of our values, our way of life- our AMERICA.

Give this some thought before, out of anger, you do a ‘write in’ or stay home and refuse to vote.

Both candidates and their supporters want to reform - no, make that burn down - the system. The only disagreement(s) are the means in which to do so.

As many have pointed out before, Bern is OWS and Trump is the Tea party. I remember talking to some OWS kids in SF during their sit-in of the Fed reserve. Give 'em a haircut, add 10 years to their lives, and they were basically younger tea party members.

So I could see both of them agreeing on the major issues facing the nation - deep-rooted corruption in all sectors of the economy, neo-con controlled foreign policy, etc, but differ on how to accomplish the goal(s).

A Trump-Bern debate would be entertaining, but won't change anyone's opinion. Heck, it won't change their own opinions. Bern will say something like ABC needs to be reformed, and Trump will agree, but suggest it should be abolished and its leaders jailed.

Actually, if at a foundational level they agreed on most objectives, it could be a precursor to a Trump-Bern ticket. Stranger things have happened. Ultimately, it would guarantee they *both* win. Biden/Warren would have no chance.

How many Trump supporters would vote that ticket, knowing Trump would have 2-3-4 years to completely gut DC, including arresting BHO, Bill-Hill, the Bushes, et al for treason?

The only downside risk is he doesn't make his term & Bern takes over, but Congress would block any major initiatives. The risk analysis also works for Bern's supporters - get him in with Trump, and bet on him taking over.

Makes perfect sense. Trump doesn’t want Bernie supporters voting for Hillary in the general. He wants them to vote Trump or stay home.

Trump’s mission is to unleach hell on Hillary and ignore Bernie.

This also works for Bernie. He’ll get Dem voters to watch Hillary get torn to pieces, without getting his hands dirty.

This will be worth hundreds of millions in free media for both of them. It’s a win-win. Only Hillary loses. She is probably getting used to it.

can you imagine the call Bernie received from Debbie?

The string of expletives from her must have made her sound like a merchant marine or a dockyard bully

Cue Mark Levin tonight ranting about how Trump refused to debate Ted Cruz one-on-one.

How badly do you want to see Hillary jailed? What about BHO, the Bushes, and others? What about 100s, no 1000s of totally corrupt insiders from NY, CA & DC deserving justice? Want to cut the neo-cons off at the knee, restore the border, etc?

A Trump-Bern ticket is an absolute, 100% guaranteed shoe-in for election. The only downside risk is that Trump doesn't make it the full 4 or 8 years. How much of a gambler are you & the country?

The same risk analysis holds true for Bern supporters: no chance of winning as a Dem, 100% chance as Trump's running mate. They're bet is the opposite ie Bern taking over, yet voting Trump-Bern at least makes it possible.

So I was a Ted Cruz supporter right up to the time he pulled out. I have a really hard time with Trump because he is no conservative.

Having said that, Trump's agreement to debate Sanders is literally brilliant. What a way to absolutely pound on Hillary and get Sanders to do it also. The amount of attention this debate would raise will be overwhelming. I love how Trump keeps the message on himself and keeps Hillary off balance...

Trump is again a genius. By “debating” Bernie, watch Trump turn this into a “Bash Hillary” debate where Sanders has no choice but to either join Trump in agreeing that Hillary is crooked and corrupt or disagree and hurt his own campaign chances. All Donald has to do is deflect the “corporate welfare / corporate raiders” claptrap and he will have an ally in beating up on the absent Mrs. Clinton who is refusing to debate either.

It also makes Hillary seem irrelevant. That will damage her. She’s in a damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t position. Joining the debate sends the message that Sanders is still in the race which she and her media sycophants have been denying. It’s a big lose, lose for Hillary. Losing relevancy is the kiss of death for a politician.

And if Hillary's 'in' it's two high IQ minds against a person who's only 'skill' was being the wife of a powerful man.
