Trump is a VERY skilled negotiator and, like all skilled negotiators, he has simply stated his opening position asking for more than he knows he will get, and will gladly ultimately settle for some amount (say half) of the profits going to charity, which is the amount he knows is actually reasonable. Besides, another reason he set this condition is to show everyone that he is the one REALLY in charge and HE is the one that will have to be negotiated with for this debate to happen.
Trump WILL do this debate because it will help him on so many levels and hurt the Democrats on so many other levels.

In fifty years of watching political gimmicks come and go....this is the most brilliant move ever done. For both Bernie and Trump....it’s a five-star calculation where neither can lose, and only Hillary can get pushed downward. She can’t even comment about this without it making her look second-rate.

Brilliant move by Trump to debate Bernie before CA primary - it marginalizes Hillary, and Trump will win over more Bernie supporters when the DNC screws Bernie over.
And I don’t think Hillary will counter by debating Ted Cruz. He, he.
He'll NEVER get any network or cable station to donate even 1/2 of the many millions they'd get from commercials, for this debate and so, there won't be any debate. The MSM looks VERY bad and trump wins again.

I don’t like this. He risks hurting himself against a losing candidate who is much cleaner than Hillary. The media will be in full, guns blazing destroy mode, salivating at this opportunity. Yeah, it’s going to make Hillary look stupid, but what if it backfires and harms Trump and/or helps Bernie get the nomination at the convention?
