Schumer upends 9/11 Saudi suit bill at 11th hour

Last week’s unanimous passage of a Senate bill making it easier for 9/11 families to sue Saudi Arabia and other foreign terror sponsors was widely heralded as a major victory.

It’s more of a cruel hoax.

It turns out that just before the vote, Sen. Charles Schumer and other proponents of the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act stuffed an amendment into the final draft allowing the attorney general and secretary of state to stop any litigation against the Saudis in its tracks.

Death of the petro dollar means the gig is up here in the US.
Politicians know it, too.

He was probably in on it from the beginning and doesn’t want his ‘reputation’ ruined...

His ‘reputation’ is if there is a camera anywhere around, don’t get in the way of him or it, you’ll get smashed...true story from New York...

When the GOP was in the minority they never could insert a poison pill in any Dem bills.

Nice how when Dems are in the minority, they do what they want.

Thanks, GOP!

Is McConnell complicit in this?

How does an amendment get added without his ok?

Sounds like he handed New York some of their values to them. Remember follow the money, campaign financing that is.

This has McConnell's and Cornyn's stench all over it. It's typical of the way they arrange bills that they can preen and pose as voting for but are carefully configured behind the scenes to accomplish nothing.

Face it, both parties kiss the Arab’s asses especially the Saudi’s, I think it is best if Trump kills the Republican party, they seem no better than the Dems and both parties care less about us, for they do not give a damn.

The U.S. Senate is filled with corrupt hacks from top to bottom -- and a career politician like Chuck Schumer sells out cheaper than most.

But this law that allows people to sue foreign governments in U.S. courts was probably never a good idea to begin with. Foreign "sponsors of terror" are less of a threat to Americans than their own government is, especially with a political system in place that allows these foreign sponsors of terrorism to buy access to the highest offices of the U.S. government.

US Congress - butt boys for the Mohammedans. What a despicable, spineless bunch of liars, thieves and perverts. Shame, shame, shame.

And they wonder why people are so pi$$ed off. They’re lucky that there’s not an army of citizens with tar and feathers outside their office windows.

Just an election year sham.

Did your senators participate? Oh yeah they all did. It’s unanimous. It is so nice to see them finally agree on something.

Of course. Who would ever expect anything different from this scum-of-the-Earth...

...and who would ever expect the “Republican-controlled” Senate to actually stop this scum?

I just CANNOT wait until the Trump Administration. Let’s see if he or his A.G. decide to stop such a suit (I think that the answer is “NO!” unless there is a deal in the works with the camel jockeys).
