Santorum endorses Trump
The Hill ^ | May 24, 2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) is throwing his support behind controversial presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

"I'm 100 percent," Santorum said Tuesday during an interview on Fox News's "On The Record," when asked if he was supporting or endorsing Trump. "That's endorse."

Santorum, who backed Marco Rubio after dropping out of the race himself in February, said he spoke with Trump more than a week ago and he said the businessman asked for his support.

The former Senator indicated a top reason for endorsing Trump is the vacant Supreme Court seat. Santorum said he made a couple suggestions for Trump's list of potential nominees .

"The most important issue is preserving the Constitution of this country and a liberal Supreme Court will destroy it," Santorum said.

"I think Americans maybe just want a little unvarnished [candidate]. I can't say that I'm crazy about it," Santorum said in explaining Trump's support throughout the GOP primaries.

Santorum conceded that the 2016 race, in his view, is more about personalities than policy.

"I think the American public has made up their mind about Hillary Clinton. I think Donald Trump still has an opportunity to cast the right lot and win this election," Santorum said.

He was a House member when NAFTA passed; I don’t know how he voted.

Rick Santorum was a thorn in the Rino Senate.

He was honest, knew a lot about foreign affairs and our military.

But especially strong in natural law . He defended children in the womb and The Culture of Life.

I respect him for trying. God bless his family.

During his run for President in 2012, Santorum praised NAFTA.

As I’ve mentioned before, I was listed as a potential delegate for Santorum on the ballot this year. Santorum is a good man. A VP spot would be good. Supreme Court Justice would be even better. Realistically neither one is going to happen. Sometimes one’s job is merely to be a voice in the wilderness. The voice reminds us of the standards that are slipping, steers the ship sometimes slightly more toward the desired horizon, and encourages those who are losing hope in the Heartland. It doesn’t have the same esteem as holding a prominent office, but it is sometimes arguably more important.

Thanks, Rick.

This is a good endorsement. Good for Santorum. He and Trump have similar ideas on how to make America great again. Hope Trump takes advantage of Santorum in his administration.

I like ya, but I got to tell ya, Rick was my rep when he began, talked that he was one of us working stiffs, but once he got a whiff of the stuff they pass around in Harrisburg, he found the hole in the other side of his mouth. He is a get along RINO, learned real quick and never looked back as he climbed the ladder. By the way, being one who was born in the Burgh, and lived there for 42 years, look up the history why Pittsburgh is spelled with an “H”.

I return to Cruz's video at age 18 regarding his aspirations..."Money, power...to rule the world".

That and the fact his papa and Glenn Beck said he was the "chosen one". That's a hard mountain to climb down from.

He is a big government ‘conservative’ who thinks the government is suppose to run our lives.

Trump doesn’t need to ‘shore up’ his Christian support, he is running against Hillary!

Oh old Rick,Mr prolife who canceled his own vote in the senate by getting specter re-elected, genius extraordinaire. Another “60th vote for obamacare”, specter, the so called republican who voted against Bush’s 1.8 trillion tax cut and made him settle for 1.2 but only temporarily. Worked my rear off for you and won my town for you only to have three people personally tell me on the Saturday before election two years later that they didn’t like specter but were going to vote for him over pedophile toomey cause you said they should. How soon you pitsburghers forget Ricky going door to door with the democratic mayor of Pittsburgh to push for the new local sales tax. Yeah, I know ricky too, facts are a stubborn thing.

Cruz will NEVER endorse Trump.

I return to Cruz’s video at age 18 regarding his aspirations...”Money, power...to rule the world”.

Sadly, I tend to agree with you :(

You need to read the book about his daughter born with Trisomy 18.

I believe you are totally wrong in your assessment of Santorum.

He’s 100 percent better then toomey. I hope he’s done in November. FREEPERS were blinded by Toomey. It was gross. Toomey is a liberal big time.
