Are You Ready For...Vice President Newt Gingrich?

Really interesting stuff from National Review's Eliana Johnson, whose latest campaign dispatch sheds light on just how close Newt Gingrich has become with the presumptive Republican nominee -- and how hard the former House Speaker is said to be lobbying behind the scenes for a spot on the ticket. Are you ready for Trump/Gingrich 2016, America?

Gingrich has, in effect, launched his own campaign to secure the nomination. “I think Newt is lobbying to be the vice president, and I think their people are paying a lot of attention to him,” says Ed Rollins, a Republican operative and former Gingrich staffer now working for a super PAC supporting Trump’s candidacy.

*snip*

Gingrich has a reputation for insinuating himself into campaigns by firing off dozens of e-mails brimming with ideas that range from brilliant to insane. While it’s a quality that has irritated previous presidential candidates such as John McCain and Mitt Romney, sources say that Trump has come to value the former speaker’s opinions. “They talk every day,” says a source familiar with the relationship, who claims that Gingrich e-mails Trump, campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and campaign manager Corey Lewandowski “countless times a day.”...Gingrich’s influence within Trump World is widespread. Inside Trump’s newly established campaign offices in Washington, D.C., his fingerprints are everywhere. “Right from the minute I joined we were told that Newt will have his hand in every major policy effort,” says one Trump aide. “So one of the things I do when I’m researching or writing anything, in addition to looking at what Trump has said about anything, I look at what Newt has said.”

Newt would be OK if he were 20 years younger, but we need someone who can succeed Trump and continue the dynasty.

We need someone who can run for President after Trump is done with his one term. Or two if decides he doesn’t want to just retire at Trump Tower

Newt is a brilliant guy. He would bring considerable political savvy to Trump’s campaign.

This is from someone at National Review. National Review? Ground Zero for #NeverTrump...I wish their offices were truly a Ground Zero.

I will never credit anything suggested by National Review. Ever. Detestable Tards, all of them.

Newt’s a great guy. Not VP, he’s a staff type now.

I like Newt, but at 74 (by election day) he would be a little on the old side to take on the VP role. I would prefer that Trump would pick a possible successor eight years down the road.

“Newt would be OK if he were 20 years younger, but we need someone who can succeed Trump and continue the dynasty.”

I agree. Perhaps he will be a transition VP. His savvy would definitely be a plus, but I do want to see a chance at continuity with a successor.

Financially they probably are. I doubt they are able to stay afloat now without someone’s largess.

I think he would be a good choice. A VP should be someone who has enough experience to take over if the president becomes incapacitated.
New cold do that.

I picked up on the fact Newt , about 8 years ago, was the only prominent politician that seemed to grasp that the Muslim problem was caused by the religion itself, and not all the other excuses being made for Islam to obfuscate it for us Kafirs. -Tom
