IRS Employee Admits He Would Go After, Target, and Try to End Conservative Groups

A self-identified IRS employee admitted he would go after, target and try to end conservative groups who wanted to abolish the IRS, to Cleta Mitchell, an attorney representing those groups, on a Washington Journal segment on C-SPAN.

Mitchell, a political law attorney who has represented conservative groups during the IRS targeting scandal since 2010, was a guest on C-SPAN to discuss the possible impeachment of the IRS commissioner John Koskinen.

The first caller was a self-identified IRS employee who said he would go after the groups Mitchell represents if their goal was to abolish the IRS.

“I am a lowly clerk at the IRS, looking at your application for tax-free status,” said the caller, Bill, from Elizabeth, New Jersey. “I go to your web page to see the goals of your group and one of the goals of your group is to abolish the IRS.”

“You can bet every dollar you got I’m going to go after you and target you and try and end your group and that’s just the way it is,” the caller said.

...end conservative groups who wanted to abolish the IRS.

Well of course he would. No bureaucrat wants the cushy government job and pension to go away. So they will use the power of the state to crush anyone who suggests such a thing.

The answer to the IRS will be the IRS ... i.e. as long as we have taxation, somebody’s got to administer it, even if it is no longer an income tax, or at least an income tax as we know it.

The same thing would probably go for any bureaucracy that is in danger of shrinkage if not abolition. Some, maybe even most, will yield to temptation.

Cutting off the dragon’s head won’t be easy.

Fascism in action. The employee needs to tracked down and brought before the court.

Who knows whether this is just trollery or if anyone at the IRS even said it. Ill manners seem to be more and more prevalent today.

Using government as a weapon should result in the death penalty for violation of civil rights and acts of war.

But it's okay, he only went after groups out to abolish the IRS, and that's just the way it is! He belongs in prison. Thanks Nachum.

While delaying the 501 tax exempt status of TEA Party organizations served 0bama’s interests, it was going to happen anyway whether the 0bama regime wanted it to happen or not. For an IRS agent, “TEA” meant “RIF” and they were going to resort to any legal or illegal tactic to stop it from happening.

Of course the IRS employee wants to keep their job.

That is true for university professors who want to keep the government grant money for global warming studies coming as well as the EPA employees.

Absent the name of the caller who could then be called to testify UNDER OATH that he targeted conservative organizations, that video (unfortunately) proves nothing.

Anyone can call in anonymously to CSPAN, claim to be the IRS and make those statements and it's meaningless.

I've no doubt in my mind what that caller said actually does in fact happen, but absent a name, proof, testimony under oath, etc. I can prove nothing.

Of course, the idiot doesn’t realize that vindictive behavior like this is just one of the reasons people want to abolish the IRS.

He’s nothing but a high school bully that never grew up.

Your wrong, there is plenty of proof internally. IRS Employees have to track their time and cases they work on.

Have the new commissioner (after this current one is impeached) get a list of everyone that dragged out an audit by case worker. Review the audits by political leanings. Fire or charge anyone that is not close to balanced. End of story.

I know they can do this, because they had a list of groups that were targeted. That means they have a list of case workers / auditors that did the targeting. Crush and destroy them.

Right, because no one has ever faked their time cards or lied about the things they're working on.

I know they can do this, because they had a list of groups that were targeted. That means they have a list of case workers / auditors that did the targeting. Crush and destroy them.

Never underestimate the capability and power of the Federal Government to cover-up its wrong doing and crush those who oppose them.

Duh. Why would some tinpot bureaucracy willingly allow anyone to put their gravy train at risk?

It’s like applying for a protest permit from the NYPD and posting online that the goal of your group is to shutdown the NYPD.

So the question becomes: how does one get past such a conflict of interest? When the very group your are against has to sign off on your rights...
