Pope Francis: Islam's Friend, Christianity's Foe?
americanthinker.com ^ | Raymond Ibrahim

Posted on 05/22/2016 7:03:21 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

The man known as the pope and the vicar of Christ – but who in light of what follows is probably best referred to by his real name, Jorge Mario Bergoglio – recently gave an interview demonstrating why "so many people think he is the anti-Christ."

The more salient features follow:

Christ as Warmonger

In classic relativistic fashion, Jorge claims:

It is true that the idea of conquest is inherent in the soul of Islam. However, it is also possible to interpret the objective in Matthew's Gospel, where Jesus sends his disciples to all nations, in terms of the same idea of conquest.
Only someone who is ignorant of or hostile to Christianity can make such a claim. To state the obvious: yes, both Christianity and Islam seek to win converts. However, Jesus's call to his disciples to "go forth and make disciples of all nations" in Matthew's Gospel was understood and practiced peacefully. Disciples preached; people converted. No violence, no coercion. In fact, it was Christians – chief among them disciples and evangelists – who were persecuted and killed simply for preaching Christ, first by the pagan Roman empire and later (and still) by Islam.

Conversely, Muhammad said, "I have been sent with the sword between my hands to ensure that no one but Allah is worshipped – Allah who put my livelihood under the shadow of my spear and who inflicts humiliation and scorn on those who disobey my commandments (The Al Qaeda Reader, p.12)." The Koran is replete with commands to do violence on those who refuse to submit to Islam – and yes, in ways that far transcend comparison with Old Testament violence.

The guy needs to be removed, stat.

“Pope Gregory the Great, who negotiated with the barbarians who were subsequently integrated.”

Integrated? They destroyed and initiated the Dark Ages.

Pope Francis is an absolute joke. As MUSLIMS in the name of ISLAM burn, shoot, drown, shoot, behead, blowup, melt with acid(new), kidnap, and rape Christians, this Puke of a person, this evil deceiver, tries to link Christ and Christianity to the abomination of Muhammad. When will rank and file Catholics rise up against this absurd and evil Pope?

The manner and agency of conquest is of utmost importance in the picture. Christianity’s angle is, or at least ought to be, that of winning through love. Islam’s angle is that of winning through threats and fear. What Francis is proposing here sounds like an adolescent argument... make that an adolescent bully’s argument.

This is for my Catholic friends....others are probably not going to be interested in it. Yes, as a good Catholic, I believe you can disagree with the Holy Father on these matters. Here is a good article (part 3 of a series) specifically on that subject. https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/when-popes-can-be-wrong-breaking-down-the-degrees-of-papal-authority

I’ve heard that the equivalent of a recall is possible, though it hasn’t been exercised.

Catholic thinkers may have gotten so much in arms over “monstrous sophisms” over the years, that when they are actually faced with a monstrous sophism (and this would qualify) the reaction is “oh we’ve heard all this hyperbole before, it’ll blow away.” But it shouldn’t, and any pastor in any church daring to call on the name of Jesus Christ shouldn’t be equating the methods by which the two faiths respectively seek to win.

It seems that this pope is a lot gabbier than past popes, who seemed to at least realize that their church was going to count their output as eligible for infallible status and so watched what they said.

But this one is like DU on steroids. YACK YACK YACK to the LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT LEFT YACK YACK YACK...

Fat chance for that to happen in any civilized manner. What is so awful is that the position has lifetime tenure or until the guy decides to step down. From what little I know about the make up of the Cardinals, it is all veering in the Pope’s direction. This is what distinguishes the current Muslim advance from the previous one, which was brought down by the Crusades. There seems to be a total absence of historical memory (likely feigned) or will to resist, which has been replaced with proactive facilitation. It can only be described as Christianity’s suicide.

Christ’s promises to the collective Christian church are what keeps it going. He knows who will be willing, and has arranged so that the size of the living members of that set will never plunge to zero.

There is a picture of the Pope bowing in submission to kiss the foot of a Muslim. I’ll be charitable and say he was trying to make some kind of point about brotherhood of all religions—but does he realize what that image shows to jillions of Muslima around the world whose core beliefs are that Infidels have to be in submission to Muslims?

Catholics, I feel sorry for your faith which seems to be taken over by a dhimmmi.

Love your enemies can be taken to the extreme, as appears to be the case with Francis.

There’s a really BIIIGG difference between telling your disciples to go out and spread the word of GOD peacefully; and telling your moonbat, devil worshipers to go out and chop the heads off of everybody who doesn’t agree with you
