Andrea Quenette, the University of Kansas communications professor subjected to protests and a formal investigation after offending her liberal students, was cleared of wrongdoing. But she is still ultimately out of a job.
"Andrea has been denied continuation of her tenure," her husband, Scott Quenette, told Reason. "Despite having a recommendation from the tenure committee and her department. The new dean unilaterally denied it."
This decision was contrary to the recommendation of her department. Quenette will be able to continue at her job for another year, and then her employment at KU will be at an end.

If only she had self identified as black that day, she’d still have her job, been tenured and given a raise.

It’s absolute insanity. I am grateful and feel blessed because my daughter’s, wife (ex) and I attended and graduated from college before this lunacy became so rampant.

I got to reading the article and it was more clear than the headline - she never had tenure, but was on track for it. So they could dump her for any reason without violating the concept of tenure - and that’s what they’re doing.
If you want tenure, you better do a lot of research, publish a lot, and kiss up to the politics of your bosses. Once having tenure, then you will get at least some more freedom.
I think professors should stick to the text books. Less trouble that way. I certainly wouldn’t speak about that topic they were regardless if the students Wanted it or not and most certainly if I still wasn’t tenure. Probably a good thing to get rid of this professor. Doesn’t have a bit of common sense anyway.
Hell, she probably would be running the University/College by now.
You certainly sound the extremist. It is not “common sense” to yield to ever tightening shackles on discourse in good faith.
I might agree in a wry way — that it’s probably a good thing for the professor to be rid of that school.
And as a way of “what goes around comes around” for that school to be rid of the professor — they don’t deserve her benefit.
Maybe tenure would have trapped her into a devil’s “gentleman’s agreement” that would have prospered nobody.
The little monsters the Communist faculty has indoctrinated is turning on their creators. That one generation away from loss of freedom Reagan spoke of is upon us.
But when the text books themselves become tightening nooses around discourse, what is the moral and ethical option?
The books are tools. But as the bible says, shall the axe boast against the one who wields it?
There is no escape along the lines you propose.
This type of censorship is what rules totalitarian states, like Nazi Germany. These students, obviously, are not getting studies in history that illustrate the dangers of a totalitarian state. All they are getting is the minimal for the working world where you do as you are told by your employer.
If you are white, working around Negros is hazardous to your career. And people wonder why white folks avoid dealing with blacks. Its a minefield where even innocent statements of fact or opinion can and will mess up your life.

Who does the dean answer to—I am assuming their is a Board of Regents or a Board of Directors for the university.
The dean’s decision should be appealed.
They are going so far that I would go so far as to say not one dollar of public money should go to fund any institution that has this sort of leftist chicanery in play.
YEah it was starting when I was back on campus in the late 80s. It grew under Clinton, and as we know W never pushed back against it hard enough, and now here we are.
