Mitt Romney has been one of the de-facto leaders of the entire #NeverTrump movement, which sought to ensure that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump never made it into the White House at all costs. However, the movement is likely all but over after Romney released a devastating announcement on Wednesday.
While the rest of us knew that the never Trump movement was pretty much a lost cause, those who were a part of it truly believed they could win the White House on a third-party run, even though Trump had received more votes than any candidate in GOP primary history. Well apparently Romney has finally come to his senses, and according to a CNN report, he's no longer actively seeking out a candidate for their grand plan.

Mitt Romney won't launch a third-party presidential campaign of his own and has stopped trying to recruit somebody else to do it.
The 2012 Republican nominee had attempted to recruit a challenger to Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. But prospects like Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse said no, and Romney is now dropping his efforts, a source familiar with Romney's thinking told CNN. The news was first reported by Yahoo News.
It's the latest blow to the "Never Trump" movement — a group of conservatives led by Romney, blogger Erick Erickson and The Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol — to find an alternative to Trump.
That's gotta hurt. Although while Romney isn't going to try to thwart the will of the People any longer, others from the movement aren't giving up, according to a report from TheBlaze.
Red State contributing editor and a top leader of the never Trump movement Ben Howe said that he plans on continuing his search for a spoiler candidate. Howe, who calls himself a conservative, said that many within the movement believe Trump is going to lose to Clinton in the fall, so they're giving up, which he thinks is a bad idea since the same people would rather have Clinton win.

According to Howe, many are giving up on finding a conservative Trump challenger because they are confident the billionaire businessman will lose to likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in the general election — an assumption he's not convinced is true.
"They've also incorrectly assumed that Trump has no shot at winning the general election, which I think is false," Howe told TheBlaze, adding that he believes many anti-Trump conservatives will stay silent because they don't want to admit "they’d rather see Hillary in office than Trump."

Though Republican leaders have tried to thwart their efforts and they have been unable to find anyone interesting in running, the "Never Trump" crowd marches on, because, according to Howe, giving up now and counting on Trump losing is a "dangerous game."
"Fighting for the survival of conservatism, even as the party falls apart, is more important than any distaste you may have for the alternatives," Howe said. "Donald Trump cannot be allowed to define conservatism for the next four years."
Howe is so committed to the movement against Trump, he even advocates supporting Clinton in order to deny Trump a victory in November.
So isn't that nice. Not only are conservatives fighting against an ultra-liberal media that's going to do everything to hand the election to Clinton in the fall, but we're having to fight the enemy from within as well. It's hard to believe anybody would actively campaign to get Clinton elected and still call themselves a conservative, considering we all know she's going to be far worse than Obama ever was, and if elected she'll get to tilt the Supreme Court to the left for generations to come.
So after seeing how things have played out thus far and observing who people are rallying behind regardless of party affiliation, this election really isn't about left versus right, Democrats versus Republicans, or liberal versus conservative; it's Americans versus the globalists, and right now, the globalists are terrified because Americans are finally standing up and saying we've had enough of them selling us out.
It was all an act.

The very idea of trying to get any true American conservative and traditional God-fearing American to vote for Hillary for any reason, IMHO just punctuates it.
Long before Howe and this #NeverTrump BS started, I didn’t think much of the Redstate site. I believe folks with Redstate kept linking their site on Free Republic to get readers. I’ve never been impressed by their work.
