Debris from EgyptAir plane crash found in Mediterranean, Egyptian military says

The Egyptian military said Friday that it had located wreckage from EgyptAir flight 804 in the Mediterranean Sea.

Egyptian army spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammed Samir said in a statement posted on his Facebook page that Egyptian jets and naval vessels found "personal belongings of the passengers and parts of the plane debris," 180 miles north of the Egyptian port city of Alexandria.

Searchers had been looking at a wide area south of the Greek island of Crete for the Airbus A320, which was nearing the end of its scheduled flight from Paris to Cairo early Thursday when contact was lost.

Egyptian aviation officials believed that debris from the plane had been found Thursday, but were forced to retract that claim hours later after their Greek counterparts said the debris did not belong to the aircraft.

If the debris found Friday is confirmed to be from the EgyptAir flight, searchers will turn their focus to recovering the cockpit voice and data recorders in an effort to determine the cause of the tragedy.

I wonder if they’ll still be able to pin this on the white, Christian American male. Tea Party, cigarette-smoking, family guy even.

Maybe there’s still time to doctor the evidence.

Hmm... So... what aircraft did Thursday's debris belong to?...

CAIRO — Egyptian naval vessels, part of an international search-and-rescue flotilla, discovered debris and personal belongings on Friday from an EgyptAir plane that went down with at least 66 people on board, raising fears of a terrorist attack, Egypt’s military said.

The items, including human remains, two seats and one or more suitcases, as well as pieces of the plane, were recovered in the Mediterranean Sea about 180 miles north of Alexandria, Egypt, the Greek defense minister and an Egyptian military spokesman said.

Before it vanished, the jetliner plunged from cruising altitude while swerving violently and flying in a circle, the Greek defense minister, Panos Kammenos, said in a news conference on Thursday.

Now, what might cause that? Say if there was a struggle for control of the aircraft??? The A320 is a complete fly by wire system. (ok, there is apparently manual control for the rudder) There are 5 separate flight control computers (pilot, first officer, standby with secondary systems for pilot and first officer too) Seems highly unlikely that an aircraft in normal cruise flight on a clear night could encounter a transient that would cause an upset in multiple flight control computers that was so bad, it resulted in loss of control and a crash.

They MUST find the black boxes from the airplane as soon as possible. With good reason: based on the experience from a couple of airplane crashes (particularly Pan Am Flight 103 in 1988), if the black box recordings suddenly come to an end, that raises the strong possibility of a bomb going off.

I heard on the news this morning that a bomb, the size of a coke can, would be sufficient to bring any airplane down. Most are now concluding a bomb placed by jihadist airline employees.

Take note of the photograph the NYSlimes chose to headline the story, showing very distinctively religious muslims bereaved by the loss of family in the crash. To me, the subtext is: “see, the victims were Muslim, so don’t jump to any conclusions that the perpetrators were Muslim”. FReepers know that Muslims are the biggest killers of Muslims, but the average NYT reader doesn’t or refuses to assimilate that fact. The obvious conclusion: it could have been anyone, but probably not Muslims. Think “crusaders” “white european” “colonialists” “the West” “America”. But whatever you do, don’t think “Muslim terrorism”.

My thoughts too. Unreal. Bizarro land.

Story later modified to say ‘other debris.’ Wouldn’t want those guys looking for loose change in my sofa let alone survivors.

Governments and terror organizations seem very quiet. Did the US even have a press conference or are we now acclimated to aircraft falling out of the sky never to be found? Are people just tired of the months of lies from governments and Boeing like last time?
