Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has no less than four military defense lawyers, plus his civilian lawyer, to try to beat the Army charge of desertion on the battlefield in Afghanistan.

U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, which will conduct Sgt. Bergdahl’s court martial, announced Tuesday that the military had concluded a brief pretrial hearing that morning and scheduled future hearings.

Listed as the sergeant’s judge advocates were Lt. Col. Franklin D. Rosenblatt, Maj. Jason Thomas, Maj. Oren Gleich and Capt. Nina Banks.

Asked whether he requested a large defense team, Sgt. Bergdahl’s lead civilian counsel, Eugene Fidell, said in an email, “Yes. We have assembled an excellent defense team.”

An Army spokesman told The Washington Times that “defense counsel are assigned by the U.S Army Trial Defense Service to provide independent, competent, and ethical defense legal services to soldiers worldwide, wherever located.”

The next pretrial hearing is set for July, with the trial scheduled to begin Feb. 6

This case seems way more straight-forward than it has been running to date.

Yet another example of how Muslims are a protected class. Observe Bergdahl Sr.’s beard.

Instead of letting him off, because we’re “nice people”, and paying him thousands in taxpayer dollars for “back pay”, shoot the cowardly Muzzie SOB. Problem solved, without a bunch of shyster lawyers being involved.

“SOB should be shot”

With any luck, he will be, by a firing squad of 12 officers picked from the duty roster at Ft. Leavenworth.

They could have Clarence Darrow but when the Senior NCOs on the jury get hold of him, Beau is done.

I think the military is doing everything it can to delay the trial until after O’bambi is gone.

Obama’s Army is nothing to be proud of. This retired Officer certainly is not.

WE TRADED SEVERAL VERY DANGEROUS ENEMIES FOR THE MAN WE ARE NOW TRYING FOR DESERTION.

Regardless of whether he did or did not betray his soldiers and get American killed searching for him, the very act of negotiating with the terrorists should cause the President to be impeached. WE DON’T NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS unless you are Obama. Then you give them whatever they want for nothing in return and apologize while doing it.

Soldiers died looking for this a$$hole who sought out and converted to Islam on the battlefield.

My experience with courts martial was that the better military lawyers wanted to be on the defense team - made life more interesting and provided experience for better paid civilian employment after service commitment was satisfied.

Obama will be gone before the trial. Obama is leaving it for Hillary who was certainly complicit in his release and the "bad deal" which was illegal to start with.

I thought I recently heard that she said that the 5 released are NOT in the field.

Right, they're doing charity work in an old folk's home.

Leaving it for Hillary??? That will be the day. More like leaving it for President Trump who hopefully will see to it that justice is served.

Unfortunately, presuming The Donald is elected, I can see the current resident of the White House granting a pardon to this POS.

Look for a pardon, between Election Day and Inauguration Day.
