Trump’s VP Pick Prediction
Scott Adams' Blog Dilbert ^ | Posted May 17th, 2016 | Scott Adams

Posted on 05/17/2016 9:15:26 AM PDT by GilGil

As I said, predicting a VP choice is nearly impossible until the last minute because the situation is fluid. A candidate might need some help in a key state, based on current polling. Or the opponent might open up a new line of attack that needs a defense. A lot can change in a few weeks.

But as of today, and according to the Master Persuader filter, I put the odds at 90% than Trump picks Brown as his running mate.

to me a “compound person” is someone who lives in a bunker or under a rock and will only support a John Bircher type ultraconservative who will draw 5% of the vote. As an aside I’ve been talking this over at work today and we all can settle on Newt Gingrich as VP if he can get over the supposed character issues. The only politician who hasn’t lied is Obama He has fundamentally changed America into a socialist immoral, 3rd world, polarized ghetto!

But Donald Trump

Supports partial birth abortion
Funded Hillary for President
Funded Hairy Reed
Funded Chuckie Schumer
Wanted to take 16% of your retirement savings to reduce the national debt
Thinks Planned Parenthood does good things
Thinks he can get Apple to make iPhones in America.

He scares me. Ask his two previous wives if they think he can keep a promise.

Kasich slammed the door. I guess he could open it again. After all, he is a politician.

Would Webb rankle the right? Or do you assume the right will turn out for Donald no matter what he does? Webb could hurt Hillary.

I’ve heard several suggest Newt as chief of staff, and have had the same thought myself. That would certainly give Trump the Washington insider he needs without the backlash that would come from putting him on the ticket.

So you believe the child of a Chinese couple who pay $10,000 to fly to LA to give birth to a child has a 'natural born citizen' but the child of an American citizen born on vacation in Canada is not?

So answer the question instead of obfuscating

Sounds like a Dilbert of a choice - I certainly hope Adams is dead wrong.

If Kasich brings Ohio into the fold, it’s a good move. If Trump doesn’t get elected you can kiss the 2nd amendment goodbye!

I don't think Trump needs any help to win. But that's the only good argument for Kasich. I'll vote Trump no matter who he picks.

“to me a “compound person” is someone who lives in a bunker or under a rock and will only support a John Bircher type ultraconservative who will draw 5% of the vote.”

Well, I submit if you ascribe that description to me. you’ve not read much of what I’ve written here on FR. To me, a so-called “compound person” is an anethema, a Cruzer, and that’s definitely not me. If all of the Cruzers decided to defect to some other site and abandon FR, it would cause me to open a good bottle of wine and celebrate. These people have political hardening of the arteries in that they can’t bring themselves to look at what “conservatism” has done ( really not done) to help our country to survive. As a practical matter, there is simply no way for an arch conservative (a real one, not just someone who is pandering for their votes) to become president today. People who would rather have an Obama or an Clinton if they are forced to vote for someone who doesn’t share their narrow view of the political spectrum have, by their actions, doomed us to unnecessasry years of dictatoral rule by the people “they really don’t like,” because they are unable to vote for people they “sorta don’t like.”

I think a lot of people vote based on outlandish reasoning.

Thoroughly scrutinize your choice.

You have not thought this through well at all.

Kasich would have had a better chance running as a Dem for their nominee. He should be summarily ejected from the Republican party.

He is not needed as Ohio will seem to be solidly behind Trump.

But, say he was selected as Mr. Trump's VP and Mr. Trump went on to win the general.

What happens if Mr. Trump suddenly keels over? Do you really want that POS Kasich as his successor?

Piss Poor choice.

It was a whole lot more than a Canadian-Vacation. Job, house, baby, health-care. Looks like he went in ‘64-thru late ‘65. Again in ‘67-’74 or ‘75.

Father- Cuban (30 years) Canadian (35 years) American once son Ted entered politics.

Mother- American (~22 years) British resident (6-8 years) citizen? Canadian resident (6-8 years) citizen 4yrs-Dual until 2014?

Ted - NBC Canadian at birth - 17yrs. Passport for American citizenship likely 1987? Dual citizenship thru April 2014.

Many unknowns with above scenario; records sealed.

Chinese kid in LA is not NBC. Neither is the baby of American vacationing girl to Iran or Canada or Russia. This includes ISIS bride’s blue-eyed Iraqi spawn.

Born on alien soil to vaca-Americans, file paperwork and request citizenship. Never an NBC, but a US citizen -yes.

Born to two US Citizens abroad at Military base hospital - technically no, but reasonable, safe, logical and in the spirit of the Constitution.

I am going to go way outside the box here with a possibility that nobody has suggested,
but would be close to the ultimate poke in the nose to Ted Cruz - Rick Perry.

****************

I think Trump may well choose someone that can deliver one or more of the swing states.
Particulary one with a more electors.

Politico lists (as of February, 2016) the following seven states for 2016:
Ohio, Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Virginia, and Florida.

Likable by whom?

If we’re just going by psychological name appeal, a quick look at house members gives:

Don Young
Matt Salmon
Steve Knight
Ed Royce
Ted Yoho
Daniel Webster
David Jolly
Raul Labrador
Mike Bost
Ralph Abraham
Billy Long
Diane Black
Mia Love
Randy Forbes

Trump/Young
Trump/Abraham
Trump/Long

Some good sounding combos.

I want this darn thing over. I want Trump to carry Ohio, Florida, Virginia, among many others. I can’t stand the thought of 8 more years of the criminal Clintonistas. Bill has already destroyed the integrity of the office. We need misinformed millenials who love Bernie, We need evangelicals, Mormons, Catholic, everyone with orthodox faith. We have to destroy political correctness and the insanity the dems have brought us! Do the polling who can help us? Palin is too shrill and polarizing. You all say Kasich is democrat-lite and Cruz has a disturbing personality. Gingrich has a checkered marital history like Trump. I keep coming down to scott walker.
