You missed a good one. Johnny Cash once called him the best song writer he knew.

In college in the late 70's I worked the Long Beach Banjo Fiddle and Guitar Festival three years in a row. That was when I first saw Guy Clark and met him as well, albeit only briefly.
I have seen him perform probably six times over the years, including at a church in Calgary.
He had been sick for awhile and possibly 'Heartbroke' over losing his wife, Susanna, not too long ago.

Funny you mention Hearbroke. I saw Guy Clark at Yoshi's in Oakland maybe ten years ago. He came out played a song or two then stood there for a moment, then said:
'Hell, I don't have a list, what do you want a hear?"
Someone said 'Texas 1947' and he played it.
I asked: "How's old Flint's boat?" He laughed and played Rita Ballou.
Some one asked for "Heartbroke" and he tuned his guitar a bit then said:
"I think I'll decline on that one. I don't play it much since that guy did it a few years ago. (he hesitated on the word "did"). He then continued: "But I sure did like cashing those checks"

Never heard of him. I have no idea who he is.You're poorer for it. Search for his name on Youtube and give a listen ... one of the best lyricists in the past 40 years.
Give these two a shot ...
