How about this:

Ryan wanted a concession(s)

Trump told Ryan to pound sand.

Ryan gave this wishy washy answer to save face.

Ryan overestimated his political value.

(DC disease strikes again)

all that crap is irrelevant.

you want to go charging off fighting skirmishes that mean nothing. it is a good thing you are not a general because you would waste troops and resources on tiny battles that accomplish nothing

-- If Trump is a good negotiator, he can win over Ryan. --

Not necessarily, and I think they have irreconcilable differences. Nothing wrong with that. The voters will sort it out.

There is no unity needed. I repeat, no unity is needed. The RINO contingent can go their way and be replaced neatly by all of the cross-over unionists, border sanctity enthusiasts, the miners, the border patrol, the anti-globalism fans, Bush-haters, Veterans of both parties and on and on...

Let’s get this started.

How did the conversation between Trump and Ryan go?

TRUMP: So Paul, I see the deficit has climbed another Trillion in the last quarter. Why did you do to allow that to happen?

RYAN: ??

I expect Ryan’s endorsement to come within a week or two

It'll come must sooner than that.

GOP fundraisers are already raising hell at Ryan for holding off. They have said that Ryan has already cost them a one week delay. Another week will be extremely problematic.

I expect that Ryan told Reince and Trump that he was on board and they could pass that on to the RNC and Congress, but they he wanted another day or so to give the impression that he had fully considered all angles (i.e. to save face).

“Quit the 24/7 news cycle everdrama and relax”

Yeah I’m afraid that ain’t gonna happen. The lib media has been on hiatus for almost 8 years. If DT wins the Presidency they are well rested and will be in full attack mode 24/7 IMO.

now Ryan will be seen as a follower of the others rather than an alleged leader.

-- Ryan... A nicer, less confrontational Rmoney. --

That's right to the point, and on the money!

Likely, Mr. Presumtive reminded Mr. Speaker, 'you are in charge of the party now, but after I get another 102 delegates, that gavel is MINE.'

But...but...what about those of us that don’t WANT a unified GOPe, and want them all Cantorized?

Who speaks for us?

Oh, that’s right...NOBODY. :)

The House has been telling Ryan to get behind Trump. That means their constituents are saying to them to tell Ryan to stand down.

Trump doesn’t need Ryan. Ryan needs Trump.

Hehehe...art of the deal.

Trump is bringing ‘em around.

Good statement. Gave Ryan and those around him some of what they want while plainly stating that the differences are really minimal, but made crystal clear what the stakes are, and how the Trump campaign has made all of this possible.

By making that joint statement, any 3rd party who did not know what had happened would wonder what the big fuss could have been about in the first place by Ryan.

No...Trump worked the deal.

Trump is the only one defending Conservative agenda while Ryan is the one that is fighting it

I think he is giving cover for Romney to pull whatever shenanigans the establishment thinks they need to do.

Ryan will not be primaried. Do not forget the buzz saw Trump ran into in Wisconsin. The fix is in.

-- The longer Trump waits to put an end to this crap, the weaker he looks. He should not appear to be a supplicant trying to curry favor with the GOPe. --

Given what came out of the meeting, lack of "adoption of Trump" by the GOP, I think Trump comes off as confident and determined. He's giving his opponents in the GOP the space to sink themselves. This is a political process, he can't kick them out, and they can't kick him out.

In a way, this is "looking presidential" on a small scale. He is aiming to president of everybody, including the DEMs, and he has to allow negotiation and room to express harsh disagreement. The voters pick it up from there.

To date there has been a paltry size of Trump endorsements coming from within the house and Senate. Trump needs the voters that didn’t vote Trump. Some align to Ryan, some align to Cruz, Kasich, Rubio etc. Bring them in and work with them but drive your agenda. But they do have to work together

Actually I think it said

“throw me to the wolves and I will return leading the pack”.

So appropriate!
