Cruz floats restarting campaign if he wins Nebraska primary

Ted Cruz floated the possibility of restarting his presidential campaign if he wins Nebraska’s GOP primary on Tuesday and avoided saying whether he supports Donald Trump's bid for president.

Cruz, who suspended his White House run last week, said he does not expect to win Nebraska's primary but is leaving the door open.

"We launched this campaign intending to win. The reason we suspended our campaign was that with the Indiana loss, I felt there was no path to victory," he said Tuesday on conservative host Glenn Beck's radio program.

"If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly."

Cruz demurred on supporting Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, because the Republican National Convention and general election are still months away.

"This is a choice every voter is going to have to make. I would note, it's not a choice we as voters have to make today," Cruz said when asked about supporting Trump.

He also brushed aside the prospects of a convention fight or third-party presidential bid.

Cruz and allies told supporters Monday night call that they would not try to block Trump’s nomination but instead focus on influencing the party’s platform and rules, according to Politico.

Cruz joins a number of prominent Republicans who have said they are not yet supporting Trump for president.

Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, and former GOP presidential nominees Mitt Romney and John McCain have all decided not to attend the party's convention in July, an apparent rebuke of Trump.

And House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said last week he was not ready to endorse Trump, adding he needed assurances that Trump would champion conservative ideas.

Cruz dropped out of the presidential race last week after losing big in Indiana's primary.

You don’t remember the old Mary Tyler Moor show I presume.

Ted Baxter is a more devastating comparison

Time to pull the chain again, and again, and again until he’s gone down and out.

Here we go. Trump will consolidate power here and people like Cruz and Ryan will be marginalized and gotten rid of.

Cruz needs to go back to his regular job , U.S. Senator . If he has quit the duties of his office the people / Governor of Texas need to replace him

Cruz needs to be totally defeated. He already was/is and needs intervention.

Cruz did not turn out to be as smart as advertised. He could have taken the high road in this primary and used lofty rhetoric to rise above, but instead he got in the trenches with the Donald and diminished his self.

Not even close.

Crus' collapse didn't come from anything Trump did.

It came when he hired Neil Bush.

It came when we found out that Heidi Cruz has been developing plans for a North American Union for Goldman Sachs...and that she was one of the architects of the TPA and TPP agreements which Ted worked to get passed.

It came When Ted sided with the assorted Muslims, #Blacklivesmatter thugs, flag waving communists, and illegal aliens who attacked Trump's Chicago rally.

The wind went out of the Cruz sails when we learned what the Dominionist theology touted by the Cruz clan consists of - hardly Christian orthodoxy.

Trump didn't make Ted embrace Glenn Beck, but the stabbing has never stopped.

Ted Cruz would have melted down no matter who the other frontrunner was. The GOPe intended that it would have been Yeb! and Ted would not have beaten Yeb! had Trump not knocked him out of the race early.

Already posted. Why do people gloss over the part of the article where Cruz admitted that a win in Nebraska wasn’t going to happen? Is it because they haven’t read the article or just want something else to pick on Cruz about, as if there isn’t enough?

I’m old enough to remember TV shows that were on the air much earlier than The Maty Tyler Moore Show, sorry to say.

When you mentioned Ted Baxter, I thought you meant Bill O’Reilly, because Ted Baxter is the name that Rush uses when he talks about O’Reilly.

It’s okay. It just hit me the other day that Cruz sounded like a young Ted Baxter.

It all started in a small radio station. Etc etc

I too remember TV shows from way way back. Loved The Proples Vjoice. eve Arden. Etc etc

How many articles do you see from The Hill by the same author with the same title? Two? Me also. Yours was second. Plus, there was a third article posted about this but it was a different source, so allowed. At least The Hill article had the info in it that Cruz also said he did not expect to win Nebraska. It’s kind of like all those articles about Trump that were posted that had a title about how Trump was considering raising the minimum wage.

I’m convinced Cruz is somewhere on Autism spectrum. He has no sense of audience, and his emoting always looks as if he’s thinking “this is how a human looks sad”, “this is how a human shows sympathy” and so on.

It’s either that OR he is the most utterly charmless person to ever grace the national political stage.
