70 Delegates at Stake for WV, NE Primaries on Tuesday

Posted on 05/08/2016 12:16:54 PM PDT by SamAdams76

Not a lot of polling has been done since Donald Trump became the presumptive nominee the evening of May 3, after his blockbuster win in Indiana that forced Cruz and Kasich from the race.

Since the Wisconsin primary last month, Trump has been on a killer streak, winning virtually every county in NY, CT, RI, MD, DE, PA and IN.

By most accounts, Trump is currently at 1,068 delegates, needing only 167 more delegates to secure the nomination. It is no longer a matter of if, but when, Trump secures these delegates (and then adds a cushion).

70 of these delegates can go to Trump Tuesday night. It is a virtual certainty Trump will win WV big, with perhaps over 70 per cent of the vote. This will get him all 34 delegates available. The only relatively uncertainty was NE, which until recently, was assumed to go into the Cruz column. But if Trump can win a plurality there, he will take all 36 delegates which will push his total to 1,138 delegates, needing only 97 more delegates with OR, WA, SD, NM, NJ, MT and CA to come.

If Trump runs the table, as he should, he will go into the convention with over 1,500 pledged delegates.

Not bad for a man who was supposedly on the ropes after the Wisconsin defeat last month.

Boy am I ever disappointed to see you refuse to vote Trump, I’ve always liked your posts and threads.

You’re a lot smarter than that.

But Jim Robinson is right and you’re a goner here on FR with that attitude.

Trump’s positions are mostly conservative. Hillary’s are all totalitarian.

I flatly refuse to vote for Trump or Hillary, as this race has come down between two New York Liberals and don’t give me that lesser of two evils crap either!

You don't have to vote for the lesser of two evils.
Just vote for the evil of two lessers.

Vote for Trump. -Tom

Looking at your tag line, you SHOULDN’T vote at any time, for anybody just because cultists say you should. You should look carefully at the candidates and vote for the one who most closely matches what you, in your own good judgement (if indeed you possess ‘good judgement’) deems what’s best for the nation.

Buy the same token, just because YOU decide someone fits this box or that label, doesn’t make it true.

As an example, someone told Trump he ‘inherited’ the party of Lincoln. Lincoln may have been a republican, but unless one studies what the Republican party stood for THEN, one could make a case that in fact, Lincoln was a liberal. Why? Because he was willing to venture out into something new, different, extraordinary. The ‘conservatives’ of that time didn’t want to change the status quo.

Lincoln wanted to exert federal authority on what was understood constitutionally to be sovereign, independent states having a right to form their own laws and govern in their own way. Slavery wasn’t THE issue, but like today, they had to have a ‘cause’ and that one worked.

Today, Republicanism ideology is small government whereas Lincoln wanted bigger, more powerful, authoritative government. So, the definitions of conservative have changed as well as the definition of Republicanism.

History is FULL of examples like that as the pendulum swings from one extreme to another and sometimes even landing in the middle.

The America that Trump speaks of is one which existed in times past, but not totally because of the circumstances of the present. Trump is a little older than I am so my frame of reference of what America was, is similar to his. I look back at the 70’s and it was full of turmoil and middle east troubles along with recession. It eased up a bit financially in the 80’s under Reagan for a short time.

But what’s happening right now is different in that it’s full steam ahead to the one world government which demands a relinquishing of the sovereignty of All nations, the US included.

It’s beginning to look like the US is going to be a prison island of workers for the rest of the world...slaves...doing the bidding of global industry while the world government has control of all natural resources..air, water, forests, bufferzones around wilderness, people herded into cities. Is THAT the world you want to see?

That’s what’s on the agenda guy!

Just because you hear a term slung around doesn’t mean that the definition of that term matches what you used to think it was.

Trump is conservative in that he wants to restore some constitutional (god given)rights which have been systematically taken away from us by both ‘rats and rinos.

Trump isn’t a rino. Right now he just so happens to be the only man in the United States of America with BALLS enough to set down his cushy lifestyle, put his life on the line, and do what he does best..get business back here so we can put bread on our tables and maybe pay our freaking medical bills!

The rest of them simply want to advance this global government system..which is more dastardly than any in all of history, more oppressive than Lincoln’s over reaching government by far, all in the name of not wanting to be left behind, and we ARE behind as our infrastructure falls and crumbles because we keep giving away the hard earned money of the slave population; and make a name for themselves in the process.

They are blind, have no concept of what it is they’re bringing down on OUR heads, and they don’t care as long as they can pat each other on the back at the big boy’s club, and you wonder about Trump??????

Have you not counted the cost to that man and his family? Have you not counted the cost to this country when yet one more pretend conservative is placed into office to give away what little bit is left in the cupboard?

I have no clue as to what your personal criteria is for judgement, but sir, you really do need to open up your mind, scan some history and a little God, too, say a prayer and ask for some discernment. THEN make a decision.

Don’t you know that the clothing manufacturing plants in the USA were shuttered due to NAFTA and other trade policies?
Very little is now made in the USA and most of them are brand specific.

I flatly refuse to vote for Trump or Hillary, as this race has come down between two New York Liberals and don’t give me that lesser of two evils crap either!

Your attempt to conflate Donald Trump with Hillary Clinton smacks of sour grapes, in addition to being patently absurd.

Lemme guess: you were a supporter of Ted Cruz and you're still bitter that he lost. Or are you instead simply expressing bigotry towards New Yorkers?

Regardless, apparently you think that you're much smarter and wiser than all of the ignorant idiots who were tricked into voting for Donald Trump: the owner and membership of this site; massive numbers of self-identified conservatives & evangelicals throughout the country; staunch patriots with impeccable conservative credentials like Senator Jeff Sessions & Sarah Palin; elder statesmen like Newt Gingrich, etc.

Last time I checked, there was no such thing as a perfect candidate.

But let's review a short list of some of Donald Trump's "New York liberal" views, shall we?

Donald Trump:

  1. Wants to build a wall and curb illegal immigration: CONSERVATIVE
  2. Wants a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigration, in order to implement a robust vetting process: CONSERVATIVE
  3. Wants to deeply cut taxes for the middle class: CONSERVATIVE
  4. Wants to keep the federal government from dictating state and local educational standards, and wants to dump the absurd Common Core curriculum: CONSERVATIVE
  5. Wants to reduce oppressive regulations on business to stimulate economic growth: CONSERVATIVE
  6. Wants to protect the 2nd Amendment and have national concealed carry: CONSERVATIVE
  7. Wants to dump international trade deals which hurt American workers and erode American sovereignty: CONSERVATIVE
  8. Wants to re-negotiate the Iran deal so that it has real teeth: CONSERVATIVE
  9. Wants to repeal 0bamacare and replace it with free-market oriented solutions, allow insurance to be sold across state lines, and open prescription drugs to more price competition: CONSERVATIVE
  10. Wants to take much better care of our veterans and reform a dysfunctional VA: CONSERVATIVE
  11. Wants to cut federal waste and spending and reduce the national debt and deficits: CONSERVATIVE
  12. Wants to introduce accountability into government and fight corruption: CONSERVATIVE
Those are just a few items, off the top of my head.

Now, Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, basically wants the exact opposite of almost all those things listed above.

So how can you honestly assert that they're the same?

You expect us to simplistically believe that Trump and Clinton are both "New York liberals", there's little difference between them, and therefore there's no sense in voting for Donald Trump?

Considering the above items I cited in evidence of Donald Trump's conservative views, it would seem that you're simply not being intellectually honest.

So I won't give you the "lesser of two evils crap": that argument applied more to Mitt Romney in 2012 than it does to Donald Trump in 2016.

Speaking of which: did you vote for Mitt Romney in 2012, or did you instead help 0bama get re-elected? After all, Romney was just a "Massachusetts liberal", right?

I'm presuming that you're an intelligent, reasonable person, so I'm going to ascribe your hysterical irrationality to petty bitterness, likely caused by the fact that your preferred conservative messiah didn't win the GOP nomination.

So here's hoping that you can accept the reality of the situation, instead of your distorted fantasies, draw the logical conclusion that Donald Trump as President is eminently preferable to Hillary Clinton, and cast your vote accordingly.

I do, however, concur with the overwhelming consensus of the membership of this community, and the site owner himself, that if you're not with us, you're against us, and if all you can do is insult the presumptive GOP nominee, you're just helping Hillary.

And if you're really intent on helping Hillary by disparaging Donald Trump, then there are plenty of places where you're at liberty do that. I daresay this community isn't one of them.

Even passively standing on the sidelines is tantamount to aiding and abetting Hillary in her diabolical quest for the Presidency.

The Revolution is ON! Don't miss out!

Vote Trump

I have fallen for this crap too many times in the past, GW Bush, McCain and Romney, what did their Presidencies or failed campaigns get us, more debt and bigger crushing government. I’m sick of losers and fake Conservatives, who I’m suppose to vote for because they say or claim things Conservative!

Actually, McCain could't let a day pass during his campaign without insulting conservatives.

But Romney was "severely conservative"...
