It was a stupid thing to do — raised fists were a gesture of both the Nazis and the Boshevics/communists.

I have a photo of our entire mess hall crew, in uniform, flipping the finger—a la Animal House.

It wasn’t a controversy at all. It was considered funny.

My ex-BIL graduated from the Air Force Academy in the last all-male class. They almost got away with having LCWB engraved on their class rings. Today, they’d be “investigated” for it. Oh, it stands for Last Class With Balls.

When I was in the Army, official policy was there was only one color, olive drab. I think it works better that way.

For a bunch of people who claim to hate it when people get offended by every little thing, a lot of you are sure offended by this little thing.

I’m not offended by the photo. In fact, I’m glad there is solid evidence of the racial bias held by these prospective commissioned officers. Having put their prejudice on display for the world to see, one would have to certainly question if black soldiers in their charge would receive preferential treatment to other soldiers.

They are black and they are women.

They will not be held accountable for anything.

However, they should all be tossed out of West Point.

It’s not really a “little thing”.

These militants wanted to attend West Point. They evidently had the grades and extras to get nominated and accepted to West Point. So it was their CHOICE.

Next, there is a way to behave and become molded into an Army Officer. By this action, it appears that this group has decided NOT to become one with the Army. Somehow, they are SPECIAL now and aren’t being subjected to the same rigorous training and peer pressure that others are.

Military training is supposed to break the individual down and replace the sense of self with a motivation to accomplish the mission as a group, each following the prescribed plan.

These cadets seem to be failing that training since they think they are more important than the rest of the entire Army.

Right. They are going to kick out 16 black women.
Like that will happen in Obama’s America.

It has nothing to do with quality, but rather, the regulations that apply to all cadets regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or political views. You supposedly were a member of the military. What is so hard to understand about why what they are doing violates the rules governing the conduct of the cadets?

Did you read the article?

John Burk, a former soldier turned motivational coach and fitness guru accused the 16 cadets of aligning themselves with the "Black Lives Matter" movement, claiming the seniors have been anonymously standing up for themselves on Yik Yak.

The students below in the picture have been making their voices heard more and more behind closed doors to senior ranking officers, until now. This overt display of the black lives matter movement is not, in itself wrong, but to do so while in uniform is completely unprofessional and not in keeping with what the USMA stands for, and as well as violating the DOD directive 1344.10.

The raised clenched fist is clearly a black lives matter or black power salute.

For a bunch of people who claim to hate it when people get offended by every little thing, a lot of you are sure offended by this little thing.

It is not a "little thing. It is a clear violation of the Academy's and DOD's policies. It is a violation of DOD directive 1344.10 which states:

-A member of the Armed Forces on active duty may: 4.1.1.3. Join a partisan or nonpartisan political club and attend its meetings when NOT IN uniform, subject to the restrictions of subparagraph 4.1.2.4. (See DoD Instruction 1334.1 (Reference (c).)

-A member of the Armed forces shall not: -4.1.2.12. Display a partisan political sign, poster, banner, or similar device visible to the public at one’s residence on a military installation, even if that residence is part of a privatized housing development.

The ladies before you are class seniors and have been making their voices heard more and more on an app called “Yik Yak” where users are kept anonymous, yet no one dares speak up in public against them due to them being accused of being racist and risk being expelled from the academy from hurting someone's feelings.

What should be done with these cadets who are clearly violating a DOD directive?
