Schwartzkopf didn’t have to be a military genius. The coalition had overwhelming superiority in every manner. Saddam was dead meat long before the buildup was complete and the pre-invasion air war softened up an already pudding-like Iraqi position. The only question was how many Iraqis would die and how fast they’d be expelled from Kuwait.
