The Primary is Over It's Time to Back Trump

Posted on 05/04/2016 9:11:00 AM PDT by Cubs Fan

Other than the possibility of GOP convention shenanigans the primary is over. Trump is the nominee. Yet today on talk radio and in the punditry and elsewhere I see people still saying they won't support him.

The most common objections-

"Trump is not conservative."

Perhaps, but (look them up) his stances on the issues have a big overlap with conservatism. More than Romney or McCain ever had.

"He doesn't mean it"

When the media went after him for his positions he still stood by them steadfast. Most republicans would have caved under such pressure. Trump did not.

"His past is liberal"

Yes, he has had some things in his past that look bad. So what should we do? Stay home and get everything we all KNOW we don't want? or take a chance that Trump might be sincere in his change of mind? if he is not, and wins, then in four years we can vote him out.

I agree with Cubs Fan.

Regardless of who you for in the primaries, the choice of Trump vs Hillary or Trump vs Sanders couldn’t be clearer, if it’s principles you want to vote on.

The “principle” truth is the Donald trumps the Hildebeast by his stand on the 2nd Amendment alone! He says Merry Christmas “America’s interest first” and “we win”!!! The crackup of the (allegedly) “conservative” intellegencia over Trump is proof (IMHO) that their main concern is maintenance of their own “Ivory Towers”... not the welfare of the common folk (George Will is Exhibit A tantrum thower). Stop the whining #NeverTrumpers and join #NeverHillary! Trump will not have fawning press coverage and will have MUCH more trouble if he tries to “weaponize” government as Obama has done and Hillary will certainly continue! (think: the GOPe might actually oppose Trump). It’s time to stop the hissy fits and cut our losses... the Republic is at great risk. The cards have been dealt, now (IMHO) Trump should choose Milwaukee sheriff David Clarke as VP. Trump/Clarke 2016 a sure winner... and with Diamond and Silk on his side Hillary is toast!

Trump is the nominee and I intend to vote for him. But I can’t support a man who’s stock answer on plans or policy is “Trust me, it’s gonna be great.”

When looking at his lifelong positions, some of which are well left of Hillary’s, as opposed to those Trump adopted after he started thinking about running for president, I see the choice as between two lying, gun grabbing, pro abortion, pro-illegal immigration socialists.

Thanks anyways. I will pass.

That's right. I'll vote 3rd party and know that I'll be truly doing my part to help save America from the path that she's on while the overwhelming majority of voters go and choose their favorite totalitarian and pull America further into the abyss.

Anyone who thinks they’re qualified to run for President has a huge ego...Trump is just more honest about it.

Do doubt.

Sorry to run for any high office you must have an outsized ego.

Trup has won and lost and come back. He also took the time to call all sorts of folks who had run for president before he decided to run (unlike other folks who talked to paid consultants). He did his due diligence. He may present as larger than life. One is not that if one looks at the children he has produced, that work hard, have great American values, and love their father very much

For the first time in modern times we have the opportunity to elect someone who is not a machine politician and is pro United States of America. It’s refreshing to see someone who has guts enough to say what he thinks and doesn’t cave 5 minutes later because 2 people disagree with him(like all of the GOP, including conservatives).

So you think the republican party stands for moral conservatism? Since when? They pander to moral conservatives but I don’t think that bunch of ‘good ole boys’ that control the party are any more moral than a fly in the air. You’re not going to get the republican party to fall in line with Dominion Theology and that’s all there is to it. If you want a party like that, you will have to create it. I don’t see anything wrong with having more than two parties.

IF he is any, or all, of those things... still he loves America more than any of the other candidates, GOP or Dem.

Donald Trump loves one thing --- Donald Trump.

So what you are saying is one liberal is better than another liberal. Haven’t we been complaining that we are sick of having to plug our nose and vote for a RINO in 2008 and 2012.

Agreed - I’ve always been a #neverHillary type. And I will vote for Trump, and luckily he is willing to spend his own money on the campaign so he doesn’t need what little “support” I’ve given others.

My daughter asked me “Okay - so vote for Trump against Hillary. What if it was between Romney and Trump?” I pointed out a few of the lesser evils between the two, and said “That would be tough - I’m glad that isn’t the decision this year!”

And you know this how? Why doesn't Trump talk about the mugging he stopped? Why doesn't he bail on people like Mike Tyson when there's no longer money to made on him? Why didn't he drop Cory when he had Manafort waiting in the wings over that made up assault charge? Trump cares for his people and the American people.

Thank you for injecting a bit of truth into the dialog.

Trump is a proud man. And that very fact will make him strive for the highest possible quality of public service as President. That pride will also make sure that he works to the ends to which he is pledged.

God Bless his efforts for an American future!

VERY WELL PUT RedWulf, I find Trump to be VERY loyal to people who are loyal to him!!! The video of a black woman executive who works for Trump, she came into substance abuse problems the entire family rallied around her SHE was part of HIS family, she still holds her position in Trumps company her video brought tears to my eyes and I DON’T cry easily!!!!
