Anti-Trump Republicans confront a dilemma: Are they ready to help elect Clinton?
MSN News ^ | May 04, 2016 | Sean Sullivan, Katie Zezima

Anti-Donald Trump Republicans are starting to consider whether their opposition to a Trump presidency is so strong that they would be prepared to fight him in the general election — even if that means helping put an avowed enemy, Hillary Clinton, in the Oval Office.

One strategy under discussion is to focus on helping down-ballot GOP candidates while sitting out the presidential race under the belief that Trump will lose to Clinton no matter what. A more drastic and difficult option: rallying support for a third-party candidate who could uphold traditional Republican positions but would almost certainly steal votes from Trump.

Ultimately, according to Howe, the #NeverTrump movement is singularly focused on stopping the billionaire businessman, no matter the consequence, including handing Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton the keys to the White House.

“Really, we’re just trying to prevent [a Trump presidency] with the full awareness that other consequences would replace that — Hillary becoming president, for instance,” he said, suggesting that in swing states, conservatives should vote for Clinton and in blue states, the should just stay home.

They are wrong, we will help get him elected because we want to educate the Trumpets.

Probably.

The GOP wimps do better when they can hide behind someone’s skirt (or pantsuit).

No, I think that’s wrong. But they do have a hard decision here. Not that they will literally cross over and vote for Frau Clinton, whom they do hate, but whether they can literally bring themselves to vote for Trump who has spent the last 8 months insulting them and their beliefs is a tougher call.

False, but we don’t want to elect Trump either. I have no dog in this fight.

Yep. Not necessessarily her, but whoever the DEMs put up. The political process of transitioning the US out of nationalism and into globalism (which includes cheap labor express and other internationalist interests) is too strained when the GOP has a leadership role.

Tucker Carlson said on Fox last night that many of the “Never Trump” people are afraid they will lose their jobs and it is not necessarily about not liking Trump.

Look there have been lots of things said by both sides during the last few months.

Now is time to oppose the democrats. At some point, it is about defeating the democrats.

Sure emotions are still high, but think about that please.

These John B. Anderson Republicans will help elect Trump. It also helps us identify problem children. There's Trouble here in River City, and sometimes a Music Man with overblown hype can nonetheless help set things right, if his will is in the right place.

Anti-Trump Republicans—The same people that told us to hold our noses and vote for Dole, McCain, Romney, etc. because supporting the party’s nominee was paramount.

When given a choice between the two, you have to select the most conservative in record. That means, true conservatives, if they can stand it, must vote Hillary. Sad, but true.

I will hold my nose and vote for Trump in the general. Then I will go home and pray really hard that he governs much better than what I expect him to.

I think the grassroots conservatives and people who did not like Trump because they feel he is liberal will support him against Clinton.

I wonder about the neocons and Washington insiders.

Disagree. We all have a dog in this fight. Whether or not you like Trump, the alternative is a faster slide into anarchy.

Trump wasn’t my first choice, but I always said I would vote for him over Hillary/Bernie. That part of this article surprised me, until I saw your mention there about the same people supporting the Rhino candidates, then it made more sense. For as much grief as Freepers have been giving each other about choosing Trump/Cruz/Kasich/Rubio/etc, I don’t think any of us would switch over to Hillary or Bernie... or maybe I’m just being naive.

To win in November, what the Trump campaign needs to do is flood media outlets with messages that Hillary robbed the election from Bernie through corruption. I think that is the best way to get liberals to cross over and vote for Trump.

I spent some time yesterday explaining to my ex-navy son how many ways Trump is better than Hillary. I think he is convinced.
