Sean Hannity embraces Donald Trump, without apology
CNN Money ^ | May 2, 2016 | Dylan Byers

Sean Hannity finally copped to being a Republican shill.

"The media has accused me of going soft in interviews on Republicans," the Fox News host said on his radio show last month. "I plead guilty. I absolutely plead guilty. You know why? Because I want one of them to win."

The admission came after Hannity spent weeks being accused of shilling for Donald Trump. In a rare moment of media bipartisanship, the liberal site ThinkProgress called his show a serialized Trump infomercial, and the conservative site RedState endorsed that characterization. Even Sen. Ted Cruz had accused Hannity of asking pro-Trump questions.

So Hannity, 54, chose to embrace a more general bias.

"I have been easy on all R as I want them to win," he tweeted Saturday. While that hardly satisfied pro-Cruz Republicans, who still charge him with aiding Trump, the message to the general public was the same: I am an unapologetic conservative with a vested interest in getting Trump or Cruz to the White House.

"I'm not a journalist," Hannity said recently. "I'm a talk show host."

In a campaign season rife with handwringing over the media's coverage of Trump, Hannity does no handwringing. He has embraced his role as the face of anti-establishment conservative media. Critics debate whether he's spent more time interviewing Trump or Cruz, but that is hardly the salient point. What matters is that he always offers Trump — who increasingly looks poised to be the Republican nominee, and therefore Hannity's pick for president — robust praise and safe harbor from criticism.

“They have. Hannity tweeted a week or so ago that his ratings are up 40% since the beginning of the year.”

He might have gone by Rush in the ratings.

Good on Hannity.

I suppose he’ll now be going on a forced vacay.

"Sean Hannity....is a reasonably honest political pundit."

He's honest, I will grant him that, although he is an intellectual light-weight.

Hannity was also one of the few in the media who supported Terri Schiavo. You might also like Judge Jeanine Pirro on Fox.

And in other news:

CNN’s Dylan Byers makes the remarkable discovery that many other talk shows are driven by the political ideology of the host.

Dylan Byers of CNN is a well-known Dem Party shill, whose parents are Obama donors, whose brother was an Obama delegate to the 2008 convention, whose father was the deputy mayor of Seattle.

Hannity is a dim bulb but that actually helped him this time around. While too clever by half pundits worked their angles for the establishment Hannity just looked at the primary results and the ratings and early on determined that there was no percentage in attacking the frontrunner. Hannity is more of a sports fan loyal to Team GOP than he is an ideologue, so Trump's deviations from party orthodoxy don't bother him.

Go Minutegal! When a seasoned politician from Illinois like you became a Trumpster, I had a hunch Trump would pull it off! I feel very elated today!! This country has been my home for 55 years, and it just again become the dominant power as it was when I arrived in 1960 to study for my master’s degree in engineering at U of Iowa. What I found in Iowa then exceeded my expectations and my Iowan friends convinced me to not return to my birth country. Donald Trump has rekindled my hopes that this country will be great again.

Give it up. Your candidate was thoroughly rejected today by Hoosiers.

Hannity is the ONLY personality I can listen to. Rush is dead to me. Kind of curious if he’ll even be on the air tomorrow. I’ll check FR to see though.

Of the top radio hosts, Hannity has been the most fair.

Hannity just lost my respect. We all knew FNC backed the establishment, and they did again, with Trump.

Sounds like you have been sucking sour grapes after the events of last night. Trump is not 'establishment'. Ted Cruz is/was establishment all the way. A 'Bush' by any other name is 'Cruz'.

When you are done with your time of mourning, know that there s room on the Trump-Train for you. We need unity to defeat Hillary in November! FRegards!

I will look at it objectively, weighing Trumps character flaws and some bad policy against some of his character charms and good policy.
