Trump accuses Cruz's father of helping JFK's assassin
Politico ^ | May 3, 2016 | Nolan D. McCaskill

Posted on 05/03/2016 5:57:15 AM PDT by reaganaut1

Donald Trump on Tuesday alleged that Ted Cruz’s father was with John F. Kennedy’s assassin shortly before he murdered the president, parroting a National Enquirer story claiming that Rafael Cruz was pictured with Lee Harvey Oswald handing out pro-Fidel Castro pamphlets in New Orleans in 1963.

A Cruz campaign spokesperson told the Miami Herald, which pointed out numerous flaws in the Enquirer story, that it was “another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage.”

“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald's being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said Tuesday during a phone interview with Fox News. “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don't even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it.”

“I mean, what was he doing — what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting?” Trump continued. “It’s horrible.” Trump’s tangent followed his rebuke of Rafael Cruz using the pulpit to court evangelicals for his son. “I implore, I exhort every member of the body of Christ to vote according to the word of God and vote for the candidate that stands on the word of God and on the Constitution of the United States of America,” Rafael Cruz said in a video clip aired by Fox News. “And I am convinced that man is my son, Ted Cruz. The alternative could be the destruction of America.”

Yes but I think it needs to be brought up. It is very brave of Donald to bring it up. Since the man in the photo has gone unidentified all these decades, perhaps now the case should be reopened from this enlightenment. Anytime new possible evidence cones to light it should be investigated by the CIA or FBI. AMericans deserve answers. Just like nazi war criminals have had to be tried for their crimes 50 years later. We the people deserve answers. NO one wants to bring this up — kind of like saying who wants to say grandpa’s been groping all the grandkids behind grandma’s back — takes a brave person to MENTION WHAT YOU ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO MENTION.

“This is just going to make him look like an a$$hole and the media will seize on it big time.”

What about Cruz saying that Trump is evil?

What about Cruz’s best friend Beck posing as the nation’s appointed prophet, relaying “authoritatively” God’s preferences?

What about Cruz’s father saying that if you are a faithful Christian, you will vote for Cruz?

You want to talk about bizarre? That kind of thing use to be laughed at in the United States.

It's my understanding that it is undisputed that Cruz was active in the pro-Castro movement while he was in college. It's also known that Cruz lived in New Orleans at one point. The only question is whether the guy in the picture of the college rally is the same guy that is in the picture handing out leaflets with Oswald in New Orleans.

Leftist site Snopes has one of the New Orleans pictures, but avoids putting up the college picture so folks could try to determine for themselves.

What is Trump saying about Ted Cruz and the Lindbergh baby?

I hope so. But as usual he is vague enough to allow for just about any interpretation of his positions. Donald Trump is exactly who YOU think he is.

Donald Trump is exactly who YOU think he is.

There is some truth to that, but he also is goal oriented. Assuming he has about 10 objectives he's put forward, the real measure of Trump will be how many of them he has accomplished when his tour of duty is finished....assuming he defeats Clinton.

The positions themselves are conservative positions. Wall, end illegal immigration, lower taxes, peace through strength, etc.

I assume that each objective obtained will increase the belief of people that he is a conservative.

On the social side I expect him to continue the 'states rights' handoff that appears to be the magic wand for all republicans these days.

Wayne Madsen is a conspiracy nut and a 9/11 “Truther” but I repeat myself. He also seems to be of a certain anti-Semitic bent.

“In a 2010 interview for Veterans Today, when asked what he thought about claims by former Italian President Francesco Cossiga, Hamid Gul, the former head of Pakistan’s Intelligence Service and several investigative journalists that Israel was behind 9/11, Madsen stated that he believed the 9/11 attacks were "an operation carried out by Mossad, Saudi intelligence,...and elements of the CIA”

“Madsen has asserted in The Palestine Telegraph that hundreds of Iraqi scientists who had been assassinated or died in accidents after the invasion in 2003 were actually murdered by Mossad hit teams operating in Iraq. In 2010, Madsen reported in the Pakistan Daily that unnamed sources suggested that the company formerly known as Blackwater, had been conducting false-flag operations in Pakistan that were blamed on the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan.”

“He has asserted that members of AIPAC and Israel's Mossad dominate CNN's management and urges his readers to boycott CNN and its advertisers until they are fired. He has begun a project to oppose Israel as a threat to world peace. Madsen has stated in an interview that "the Israeli lobby owns the Congress, media, Hollywood, Wall Street, both political parties and the White House"

I could be mistaken but I thought that the Wayne Madsen Report was, at least at one time, an unwelcome source on FR.

Read the initial reports about this and would love to hear more substantive information. Definitely something that needs more discussion, regardless of the source. Besides, Cruz did not leave Cuba to escape Castro. No, he was by all all accounts an active supporter. Yes, let’s hear more.

Politics has always been a form of organized crime. It’s actually worse because it’s legal.

Ted Cruz doesn’t look at all like his father.

Don’t most Cuban men look exactly like their fathers?

Or maybe I missed something, is Ted adopted?

You need to actually read what was said, Trump called the story ridiculous so stop attacking Trump for Politicos’ lies.

What's in that article cannot be made up out of thin air. Yes there are direct references to source material. Read it and google the bits of information you are curious about. That is how to vet an article like that. It's amazing what you can find doing that.

"The April 27, 1967 issue of the New Orleans States-Item featured a story written jointly by the States-Item and the Dayton (Ohio) Daily News that points to CIA undercover agent Gordon Novel as having played a part in the CIA's false flag "Fair Play for Cuba" operations in New Orleans that also employed Oswald and, as WMR previously reported, Rafael Cruz. While flying the "pro-Fidel Castro" flag, Fair Play for Cuba, which was headquartered in the same building and office space that also housed former FBI agent and JFK assassination co-conspirator Guy Banister, was a front for anti-Castro activities in the New Orleans area beginning as early as 1961."

People quote Slate and Huffpost all the time. It’s information. The article refers to actual source material, see post 94.

All we have is a blurry picture of a dark haired young man, with Mediterranean facial features, passing out leaflets in New Orleans 54 years ago along with Lee Harvey Oswald. Conspiracists also claim that a blurry picture of a tall, thin man, with northern European facial features and a receding hairline standing in front of the Texas School Book Depository on November 22, 1963 is George H.W. Bush. There is another claim that the "three tramps" arrested soon after the Kennedy assassination were E. Howard Hunt, Charles Harrelson (Woody Harrelson's father), and Frank Sturgis. One of the "tramps" does bear some resemblance to Hunt.

However, you cannot build a case on a blurry picture unless there is other evidence tying the elder Cruz to involvement with Lee Harvey Oswald.

Several people write that Trump should not speak about Cruz’s father, why not?! He is out campaigning for his son, criticizing Trump. He is his father and has yet, to the best of my knowledge, discussed Raphael’s citizenship, and being tied to other pro-Castro people is a very curious connection that deserves exploration, whether Cruz remains a viable candidate or not. Again, why not ask for more information on this? No one has denied the story, a damning accusation, so maybe one should, in my opinion, presume it is true. If Raphael Senior knew and worked with Lee Harvey Oswald, what was their relationship?

None of this will make any difference in the primaries. Trump is going to get the nomination. And, in the general, this claim will be coupled with Trump's search for Obama's real birthplace in Kenya to suggest that he is easily seduced by claims that he wishes were true even if there is very little likelihood of the claims being based in reality. I know that there are birthers and truthers our there, but I don't think it helps for a presidential candidate to be one.

Of course, this is a weird year. Maybe it will work for Trump.
