Cruz confronts Trump supporter
The Hill ^ | May 2, 2016 | Ben Kamisar

Ted Cruz on Monday faced off against Donald Trump supporters who crashed an event in Indiana, where the GOP hopeful is desperately working to upset the front-runner and keep his White House dreams alive.

Protestors started chanting "Do the math" during Cruz's stop in Marion, Ind., prompting the Texas senator to walk up to to a demonstrator holding a Trump campaign sign. The man, who refused to give his name to reporters but said he had come from Ohio, interrupted Cruz and repeatedly called him "Lyin' Ted," Trump's favorite nickname for his rival.

"With all respect, Donald Trump is deceiving you, playing you for a chump," Cruz said.

"Ask yourself two questions: One, why is it that the mainstream media so desperately wants Donald Trump to be the Republican nominee? And why is it John Boehner supports Donald Trump?" Cruz asked, referring to the former GOP Speaker from Ohio.

The men stood just a few feet from each other, and were enveloped in a throng of reporters and Cruz supporters.

Cruz repeatedly attempted to make his pitch while the man interrupted him.

The protester chided Cruz for calling on John Kasich to get out of the presidential race, telling him to take his own advice. The man told Cruz that Trump is certain to win the 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the GOP nomination.

"You'll find out tomorrow," the man said, "Indiana don't want you."

The attacks also got personal at times, with the man jabbing him about rumors of infidelity and panning his Canadian birth. Cruz was also criticized for having ties to Goldman Sachs. Cruz's wife Heidi worked for the investment bank.

"Where's your Goldman Sachs jacket? We know your wife works there," the man said.

Her physical appearance is not an issue for me.

The origination of her paycheck,

and what she writes about to get it - IS.

The so-called Trump supporter is prolly a Ted Cruz plant, manipulating voters into making Cruz look half-human talking to him.......the Cruz operatives made the Trump supporter out to be some imbecilic ogre.

Send this creep Cruz back home to Calgary.

Sad to see such childish attacks in the GOP primary. Save the energy for Hillary. The GOP candidate will need all republicans and conservatives to unite.

Never Hillary!

Of course, you're right......but pocketing $700,000 a year
from globalist G/S does make her appearance more relevant.

“You’ll be in the land of Oz before you know it.

(he’s already there, and doesn’t know it)”

Ted must first click his Ruby Slippers 3 times, and repeat “ There’s no place like Nome”

I just saw this same encounter, from a different perspective (from behind Cruz) and with far better audio, on Shepard Smith’s FoxNews show in its entirety. Cruz showed a lot of class IMHO and clearly & factually dealt with all the protestor’s questions. My suspicion is that few here will listen to the entire encounter and fewer still will listen to it objectively with an open mind. And that’s unfortunate.

The author may be wrong in saying the protester CRASHED the event.

When Cruz chooses to show up at a busy public restaurant in a state where Trump has 50% of the electorate, he should expect some flack from diners who just want to eat their lunch in peace without a Cruz-sermon!

This is in my town. I went buy the event. That guy was standing across the street with a sign when I drove by at 1:00. The event was scheduled to end at 1:15. I don’t know if this happened before or after Cruz got in his face.

Well, although I have been a Cruz supporter, since the NY Primary I have publically encourage him to recognize the futility of trying to push for a convention fight and splintering the GOP vote.

My Open Letter to Ted Cruz after the NY Primary
http://www.jeffhead.com/Cruz-ltr.htm

Having said that, and I still mean every word of it and hope and pray he will do what is best for this country after the Indiana vote tomorrow and lay the war hatchet aside and unite the party...

Still, having said that, I give the man credit for politely approaching these Trump supporters and trying to have a dialog with them and convince them of his own thoughts.

Not many people would do that....and in doing it, not many would be able to remain respectful and even headed while doing so.

But...despite my respect for it...it is beside the point.

The issue here MUST be victory in November. A split party will result in defeat.

Ted Cruz has the key to uniting the party by recognizing the obvious facts on the ground...that he cannot possibly get to 1,237 and that Trump can and most likely will...and work with the man to win.

Cruz can help Trump by simply supporting the vast majority of Trump’s position statements on the issues which are close to his own...not to mention supporting the will of the people.

If he did, the victory in November, IMHO, would be assured, and Cruz might win some respect and support for a later run.

If he keeps this fight going after Indiana, and tries to make a spectacle as Trump goes over 1,237, he will have, IMHO, ruined his own future.

Most people do not know it, but Trump is going to soundly break the record for the most GOP Primary votes in history.

Right now I believe that record was held by GW Bush at 10.8 million. Trump already has 10.1 million with ten states to go. I expect Trump will end up with well over 11 million GOP Primary voters.

That is such a great video.

That guy does not like Ted Cruz at all. That was not a friendly smile.

In honor of this man, I am going to change my tagline for a bit. I'm not sure if I'll keep it, but for now I'm going with what he said.

And I offer Ted this new political sign in remembrance of this conversation.

UNWANTED!

When I saw that, I thought it was a “put up job”.
Why doesn’t someone ask him why he hasn’t finished the job he was elected for. This is his first senate term and hasn’t finished it, BUT, thinks he should be president.
