The Inevitable Mr. Trump
National Interest ^ | APRIL 28,2017 | Conrad Black

Posted on 05/01/2016 8:25:09 AM PDT by Hojczyk

The election of Donald Trump as president is now a very reasonable possibility. Among its effects would be a salutary house-cleaning of the federal government, a process of renewal that would doubtless have lapses of taste and judgment, but that would revitalize American public life. The Bush dynasty was an accident of continuity following the very successful Reagan presidency, and it came to have a stifling influence on the Republican Party.

The premature defeat of George H. W. Bush by Bill Clinton led to the even more precarious myth of the Bush-Clinton co-dynasty, as there was no excuse for Clinton winning the 1992 election. Barack Obama interrupted the Bush-Clinton alternation by seizing the moment for an admirable and nationally heartfelt gesture of tolerance and broad-mindedness, but he has been a disastrous president.

In the United States, political renewal occurs when it must, and in a peculiar, always surprising and ineluctable way, the office does seek the man (or woman). When Donald Trump leaves Cleveland in July, he will probably be the nominee, and if he continues to recalibrate his campaign to a broader base, the office will seek him. Many of the minorities to whom the Clintons (and even Obama) have given almost nothing but the relentless utterance of clichés and bromides will embrace his appeal—

more than the polls now register. As a massively recognized but politically new face, who has focused the election on the real and previously unexplored issues, facing a shop-worn candidate very widely seen as corrupt and unproven despite her longevity in the corridors and anterooms of misgovernment, Donald Trump should be very formidable.

This election is about American nationalism vs. International government.

Liberal vs. conservative is at best a luxury viewpoint, at worst a mere chimera, a cover for the Internationalist uniparty that controls our government. This is a revolution for Americanism - our national identity. If it fails we are but another big province in the International system.

It's more than just that. If America can find the courage to reassert its national identity then it will inspire many others to do the same. This doesn't imply a return to some sort of tribalism, as the globalists try to claim, but exactly the opposite. It will represent a rejection of the global concentration of power into the hands of an unelected and unaccountable elite and a return to a more distributed and decentralized model that can unleash the creativity of the peoples of the earth.

Bill Still nails it in his analysis of Trump's foreign policy speech. The video includes the entirety of this critically important speech and is well worth watching.

Joe Dan’s at it again. Another installment of INTELLECTUAL FROGLEGS!
Grab a cup of your favorite beverage and, unless you suffer from ADHD (not likely if you’re on my list), spend an entertaining and enlightening 23 minutes with Sr.Gorman as he corrects the erroneous 411 being dispensed by the MSM about the candidates in the most important election in our lifetimes.

"a salutary house-cleaning of the federal government"

I have to believe that 'government' at most levels, is riddled with corrupt bureaucrats who think "the ends justify the means" (i.e. obtaining socialism). To this end, we get the Lois Lerners of this world - criminally corrupt.

Since government attracts Progressives, when the first thirty or forty are arraigned, tried, convicted and jailed, they might get the message to be even-handed. If not, try 300 or 400 and so on until the desired object is achieved. They can get their union to appeal their case from a cell.

Much truth is Black’s words particularly about the Bush buffoons and most certainly, Trump may indeed be the Man for the Moment. He has audacity in spades. But what about the GOP?
W/the end of the Civil War and the demise of Slavery; their reason foe existence expired some 150 years ago; yet like the house guest who won’t leave, they still here.

Any housecleaning will be ultimately futile as it will, at est, provide a very temporary softening of the national plunge unless the 17th is repealed and the USSC loses its status as absolute arbiter of the COnstitution and the main thing- the Agencies are all utterly abolished. That would be the EPA, the DOE, the other DOE the FDA- all down to the original four. those agencies ARE the government, or nine tenths of it and operate in ever greater independence of Congress and of opposition Presidents. They pass laws that are just as much Laws as anything passed by congress and violation of Agency laws can lead to prison terms and extreme fines. Leaving the Agencies in place is rendering as nought all the other reforms that might be made. The True Government will continue on without influence by the People or their elected representatives will continue to be enforced by the judges.

Absolutely. Any so-called conservative who can’t see this, and can’t see how important this is, is dead weight. Someone who must be lugged around. Like a severely wounded soldier on the battlefield. Actually, like a slacker pretending to be severely wounded. So you don’t have to walk. Let the rest of us carry you.
