Ted Cruz Makes His Last Stand in Indiana

Republican presidential candidate seeks help from governors and former rivals to stop Donald Trump in Indiana’s primary.

Sen. Ted Cruz, in a last-ditch effort to derail Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, is trying to marshal support from governors, former rivals and other anti-Trump Republicans in advance of the make-or-break primary in Indiana Tuesday.

With polls showing him lagging behind the New York businessman in the Hoosier state, the Texas senator talked up the somewhat equivocal support he received from Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Friday.

Mr. Pence said on an Indianapolis talk-radio show that he would vote for Mr. Cruz because he is “a principled conservative who has dedicated his career to advocating the Reagan agenda.” But then, Mr. Pence added, “I particularly want to commend Donald Trump, who I think has given voice to the frustration of millions of working Americans.”

“Think the powers above ordered Pence to do it.”

Agree. He was a better House rep than his successor Messer, I think, and he’s been a good guv but he’s like Horton the elephant: faithful to the GOP, 100 per cent. At the same time it was pretty obvious he’s conflicted.

IMO as long as Cruz thinks he has even a snowballs chance of being appointed by the staff as classroom monitor, while teacher ducks out to take a leak, he will stay in.
And my Magic 8 ball says he will eventually concede—when the last dog rolls over, rattles and exhales its last doggie breath—but without actually conceding.
And as in the past he won’t offer congrats, or when he finally shuffles off to Buffalo even offer support to the nominee: “Now let’s beat Hillary!” It’s always been about Cruz.

(Buffalo, Texas, wherever he goes. Who cares? I’m just looking forward to saying, `Good riddance Ted’.)

I still kinda like Pence, but he’s going to be lucky to beat Gregg this time around.

The only poll I’ve heard of had him just outside the margin of error.

Gregg is an idiot but Pence has terrible political judgment. Every land mine Mitch Daniels had the sense to avoid, Pence has jumped on with both feet.

Last stands, like Banzai charges are the fate of those who have lost. They are only worthwhile if those you stand against are offering no quarter.

Senator Cruz is in a hopeless situation. He should surrender nobody is proposing to shop off his head if he does not

Wouldn't it be a real kick in the ass for Cruz if President Trump comes to Texas
for the 2018 election cycle to endorse and support former Governor Rick Perry?

Look OUT for the Trump train!!

I saw 2 Cruz signs in Fishers tonight. They weren’t in private yards but were in “sign farms” at intersections. Several Trump signs in yards in my neighborhood.

“Former Texas governor, Rick Perry denounced his colleague Ted Cruz and officially sided with Donald Trump.”

I am a Trump supporter, so don't take this wrong, but Perry said on the view that “at the end of the day” he would vote for Trump over Clinton. That is not really denouncing Cruz or endorsing Trump. It is a hopeful sign that the GOPe is coming around.

So true.

Someone needs to check and see if his eye blinks were spelling out, "torture", in Morse Code.

There will be other times and opportunities for Cruz later on.

Absolutely. His sights are set for much bigger things: President of the North American Union. He, Heidi, the CFR, WTO---they are dead serious about this. If you don't think so, you better start doing some reading.

In that position, he will be able to complete the things he failed at while in the Senate---amnesty, for one. And he got TPA passed, which enables Obama to unilaterally pass TPP, and there are other trade agreements coming...TPP is NAFTA on Steroids, it's said. What follows TPP will be trade agreements powered by nuke reactors, comparatively.

Ted was unable to get his increase of 500,000 new H1B workers (the GOOD jobs); but in the NAU that won't be a problem. Cruz and his fellow republicans have funded the resettlement in America of Syrians, Somalis, and Sudanese Muslims until the end of the Fed fiscal year 2017, and by then it'll be in the millions. Imagine how many Trojan Horse terror cells will be in that bunch.

The Omnibus Spending bill of the Republicans funds all of Obama's plans, and more.

Cruz vowed in 2014 that Obamacare would be repealed if the Republicans ran the senate. That won't matter because the NAU will have its own Mexi-Cana-US healthcare plan based on Canada's socialized medicine.

Heidi's work with Robert Zoellnick (Father of TPP) in the Bush White House, and her highly praised work for the North American Union as she was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, will happen pretty fast unless we can get Trump in.

Under Ted's leadership Globalists will have succeeded in their goal of removing all borders from the USA, its constitution, moved its jobs offshore, and for the jobs that can't be moved, they'll be filled by Indians and Chinese, which is in the TPP agreement, made possible by Ted's slick parliamentary shenanigans (like cloture votes, etc.) that Ted used to get TPA passed (so that congress had no say in any new trade agreements and could not filibuster one, and negotiations on new trade agreements would be done privately with only the POTUS involved.)

When I think of my opinion of Cruz when he started the race as opposed to now, it’s so disappointing. When Cruz was drafting Trump he had a great image. I think he might have been real competition.

But when he went to the dark side and joined the cartel, he became a different person, vicious and scheming.

Pray for Trump.

if he were to stand down and pledge to work WITH Trump to defeat Hillary Rotten Criminal, he could possibly self-rehabilitate himself from being viewed as a puppet of the GOPe

Well, maybe once he gets his citizenship straightened out.

First, thanks for the response. I find it odd that people feel they have to defend their 'position' and worry about 'offending' another just by telling the truth.

but Perry said on the view that “at the end of the day” he would vote for Trump over Clinton. That is not really denouncing Cruz or endorsing Trump.

You are absolutely correct. But as you say, it's a good sign.

I was just trying to be kind about future opportunities for Cruz.

I knew he was ambitious and an opportunist, but wouldn’t have thought in my wildest imagination the things you are describing. Though now that you are pointing them out, they do seem credible.

How could people think that Cruz is a conservative?!

Not only that, he might end up AG or get the Scalia seat on SCOTUS. The more he continues with his insanity, the more he can expect no more than an ether soaked bag over his head and a big shot of valium followed by a quick trip to a secure, comfortable place where he can sleep off his delusions of grandeur.
