Deputies are investigating after an intruder was fatally shot in a home near Thursday night Monroe.
Authorities responded after an 80-year-old woman called 911 to report she had shot an intruder in the 13700 block of Woods Lake Road before 9 p.m.
Police said the intruder broke into the home and stabbed a 75-year-old man. The man’s wife then shot the intruder.
According to police, the intruder died at the scene.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is in stable condition. The woman was not injured.
Woods Lake Road between Florence Road and Old Owen Road was closed for the investigation.
With a name like LeShalacka Wacka Kunte Sharpton*, he could have been from anywhere...
*Okay, so I made the name up. Sue me.
I don’t think there’s a universal answer as to how various PD’s react, but have heard of some who would use the opportunity to take ALL of the homeowner’s firearms.
It’s hard to argue logic or legalisms with a house full of armed cops.
I can imagine arguing lack of a search warrant, but that’s not necessary at an active crime scene.
I can imagine refusing to answer, if asked about “other weapons”....and then getting arrested for interfering with an on-going investigation.
“Officer, you have the only weapon I used to legally defend myself.”
It’s called the tax payer relief shot :-)
I love these stories, just like most of us here at FR.
HOWEVER——can we please know the state where this happened??? Too many states have towns named MONROE-—including Wisconsin—where I was born.

Depends on timing and aggressiveness of PD.
You certainly don’t want to be on record as having been denied because you attempt to buy during an active investigation.
Personally, I’d bet on slow paperwork and try to buy right away.
Oh....and don’t bother sharing your sob story with the salesman.

Good. The right to self-defense is inherent in our nature. Government didn’t give it, and can’t take it away.
The left doesn’t want you to be able to defend yourself. It wants the “oppressed” one to waltz right in and take what is “rightfully “ his.
