NEW POLL: INDIANA GOP CONTEST A TOTAL TOSS-UP (Trump +2)
Clout Research ^ | 04/28/2016 | Clout Research

Posted on 04/28/2016 10:16:18 PM PDT by NYRepublican72

The survey of likely GOP voters statewide in Indiana shows a statistical toss-up for the Republican Party nomination for President between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, with Trump holding a 37% to 35% edge. John Kasich wins the support of 16% of voters, with 11% saying they are yet unsure for whom they will vote.

Trump wins among moderate primary voters with 39%, compared to 37% for Kasich and 18% for Cruz. Among those who consider themselves establishment conservatives – which comprised 55% of the poll sample – Trump wins 36% support and Cruz won 34% support. Among those who self-identified as supporting the ideals of the TEA Party movement, Cruz leads Trump by a 51% to 39% margin. TEA Partiers made up 25% of the poll sample.

“Our polling shows this race is a complete toss-up. After the Trump wins Tuesday in the Northeast, some have said this race for the nomination is over, but the voters of Indiana clearly have a different opinion,” said Pollster Fritz Wenzel. “Our survey shows this race will very likely come down to the final day and the final vote.”

yes but the second place is Kasich, not Cruz

Should not Kasich be feared there?

Yeah, sure, it's a tossup. Then come voting day, it'll be Trump all the way.

Isn't this becoming a pattern with the pollsters?

This clearly shows his bias.

Do you believe there’s a Kasich ‘surge’? In a state he’s not even campaigning in?

I thought the poll showed Kasich at 35 and Trump at 37 and Cruz at 20 something

It does. This would indicate a massive move towards Kasich. I know that the #nevertrump crowd might rationalize that, but those of us who live in the real world have to look at it with serious skepticism.

Watch stuff like this. We know for a fact Cruz is behind, but this kind of poll could be a red flag for another cheat win in Indiana.

Whenever they do this, look for a possible GOPe playtime with vote fraud.

"The survey was fielded on April 27, 2016, in the immediate aftermath of the Ted Cruz announcement of Carly Fiorina as his running mate."

Sounds like the poll was all to try and capture the post-Fiorina announcement buzz. A buzz which lasted about 4 hours.

I was born and raised in Indiana and Bob Knight will seal deal for Trump (if it even needed to sealed) no question. He is I-Con in Indiana. I say Go Hoosier/Bob Knight/Trump. If you cruz you lose pure and simple.

Governor Whitey Pence came out a few minutes ago and endorsed Cruz. Trump got Bobby Knight, who’s a lot more popular in the state than establishment Pence.

From your link:

” Cruz allies and people close to the campaign describe a budding sense of gloom, with internal polls diving as Trump mounted even stronger than expected showings in his native northeast. In Indiana, which Cruz backers once believed they were favored to win after his strong defeat of Trump in Wisconsin, Cruz’s numbers have fallen precipitously: Once leading, Cruz now trails in the state by eight to 10 points, according to a person who has seen the numbers, with Trump over the 40% mark. Cruz’s campaign did not respond when asked about those figures.

It seems strange that in a state that is being called the Alamo by Cruz people that the polling data seems so sparse. I think that the acts of desperation by Cruz signal that the internal numbers are better for Trump than what is being shown in the public polls. Trump is may be perfectly happy to not publicize their internals to maintain a sense of urgency.

I agree with you re Trump and their internals.

Snarly/Scruz’s private polls and their Focus Group results must be scaring the hell out of them.
