Adriana Cohen: Carly Fiorina no lifeboat for a fast-sinking Ted Cruz campaign
Boston Herald ^ | April 28, 2016 | Adriana Cohen

The panic level in the Cruz campaign has hit Titanic levels — as in Ted’s about to hit the iceberg.

His clumsy alliance with John Kasich over the weekend was embarrassing enough and now naming Carly Fiorina as a running mate is wishful thinking.

Can’t Cruz count? Donald Trump has 987 delegates to Ted’s 562, as of today. The tally to win the GOP nomination on the first ballot is 1,237.

By the time the Trump jet lands in Cleveland for the July 18 convention, the race will be long over. Cruz is grabbing for any headline he can get by naming a VP.

Fiorina has had not one, but two failed attempts at public office. In 2010 she was crushed by Democrat U.S. Sen. Barbara Boxer in California by 10 points. We know how her run for president did this year. She won only one lonely delegate.

So how does Cruz expect Carly to get him traction in California’s upcoming June 7 primary when the state has already sent her packing?

His clumsy alliance with John Kasich over the weekend was embarrassing enough and now naming Carly Fiorina as a running mate is wishful thinking.

If Cruz wins in Indiana I would have to say that Fiorina made a difference because Trump has a lot of momentum coming out of the East.

Ted’s dingy hit the iceberg in the NY primary.

Then, a week later his dingy veered out of control and hit five more icebergs this past Tuesday as Trump kicked his butt in 5 more states from county to county.

New polls now show Scruz losing in Indiana and Oregon!

Hoosiers aren’t that gullible or ill-informed.

I live near and often work in the most conservative county in the state and I couldn’t tell you what a Cruz sign even looks like, having never seen one.

And, of those people I’ve talked to, I’ve yet to meet a Cruz supporter while knowing about a dozen who have already voted for Trump.

I see Cruz ending up in a rest home this summer, spending his time in robe and slippers, leafing thru his scrapbook, and holding cabinet meetings with his stuff animals.

She’s more of a torpedo or bomb down the smokestack.

“What did you see?” asked the anxious voice. “Iceberg right ahead!”

I would think it unlikely that Cruz can overcome Trumps momentum with the caveat being that folks from Indiana are not very likely to follow CT and RI in their voting pattern. Bottom line? Trump should win a tight race.

Ted was done after he went 0-5 on March 15, and came in 3rd or 4th in Florida. He had no path to a majority at that point, and his only strategy was to keep Trump from getting one. So he tried. In previous years, a guy in his position would have dropped out so that the front runner could consolidate in the remaining states and the party could unify, but not this year. This year, the establishment held out hope of stopping Trump, and Cruz agreed to be their vessel.

So he went ultra nasty, upping it from just smarmy. The lies and misrepresentations became 3 times as outrageous.

His strategy could never, in a million years, have resulted in a President Cruz. It only served to make a President Hillary more likely, to the extent the GOPe continued to have a chance for a brokered convention, and to the extent it prevented the party from coming together and accepting that Trump had won.

Thankfully, Trump has overcome all that, with flying colors. He is going to get the nomination, in spite of all the shenanigans, and he is going to wipe the floor with Crooked Hillary. No thanks to Felito.

I can't wait for the big win in Indiana. He was going to win, but Bobby Knight is the icing on the cake.

And we need to thank God that Trump has been able to fight the onslaught of criminal behavior and prevail.
