Yeah, Ted Cruz is the same coin as Obama. That is exactly the sort of cultish nonsense all the trump moonies repeat like drones. Trump could tell you messianic followers that an orange was a comet, any you’d all eagerly board his spaceship to the afterlife.

Well dear, you are just going to have to deal with the fact there is no ground swell idolatry for a 'natural born' Cuban Canadian. Harvard Law Schooled grad, junior senator, congenital liar. Cruz is NOT pleasing to the eye or the ears.

Fascinating. Excellent piece of long-form journalism that is all to rare nowadays.

Yes, it is slanted, of course it is slanted. But we all know how to read for bias. This is just first-rate original reporting - info I haven't seen anywhere else.

A good window in to a very shadowy, complex world.

That said, Trump has pushed back on Manafort's "handling" in a way it doesn't appear his other clients have had the strength to do. In this case, it is Trump using and controlling Manafort's skill-set to advance his agenda, and not the other way around.

Unfortunately, there isn't a true conservative in the race.

Trump it is, then.

Vote Trump!

Cruz is NOT pleasing to the eye or the ears.

LOL! I didn't even realize you were a girl till just now!

I'm comfortable with the idea that Cruz will not be president. The voters of our nation have a shoddy history over the last thirty years or so. Cruz is just a politician though. Like Kasich. Like Trump. I just agreed with his political outlook more than the competition. I don't look to any politician as a hero or role model.

Now imagine Trump doesn't attain the office. How will you people who've invested all your hopes and dreams go on? He's your party. Your ideology. Your elvis messiah mentor astronaut. Your life will pretty much be a hollow rotten pumpkin.

I started out with Walker, then Cruz and now believe he is unelectable. Show me a conservative who can be elected and I’ll put money there. Meanwhile, Trump will shake things up. We’ll win some and lose some, unlike with Shill where we’ll lose a lot.

You don’t get it, none of you in that purist “we’re the only real conservatives” group get it.

There is no choice, none and there hasn’t been for years. You think poor Ted Cruz was turned down because Trump was a meanie but the truth is, Cruz is part of the bought-and-paid-for establishment. And he would never, ever, be able to put up a decent fight against Hillary. He even can’t win most primaries.

The only true insiders in this race are Dr. Carson and Trump. Dr. Carson has the intelligence and stately demeanor but couldn’t survive in a pool of sharks, especially Cruz. All other candidates are part of the problem.

So you are left with either Trump or Hillary end of story. You can lecture us on how we’ve betrayed the cause but it’s people like you who would surrender to Washington without a fight because you couldn’t find the perfect candidate who endanger the rest of us.

We’re not “post-conservatives” we’re realistic conservatives who want to take our country back. And Donald Trump is our only chance.

The General Election has begun. First real well done hit piece on Trump.

No thanks. Trump is the post-conservative candidate and this has become a post-conservative website

FR is not post-conservative website. That's a smear.

So sorry your pet conservative didn't win, and that your butthurt is so pronounced, but that's no reason for you to disparage this community or its host and leader.

That was a totally gratuitous insult.

Vote Trump

LOL! Another left-handed hit piece on Trump.

Trump has overwhelming support from millions upon millions who have never heard of, or care about, Paul Manford.

Trump took the steps to get himself elected and the others committed harakiri.

What is your estimate of the percentage of the US population that is ‘conservative’ and would vote for a ‘conservative’ candidate ?

That's a question that the bitter-ender Cruz supporters will not ask. They seem to be like a 5-year old who has a thought about how something would be nice and they automatically impress that though to the point where they think everyone else thinks the same thing.

I started out supporting Cruz and sent him lots of money despite knowing his base was fairly finite and that he would need help from Hillary in order to win. Since then, he has alienated a lot of that original base and there are comparatively few who get excited over the prospect of voting for him. Trump is the only real choice/chance we have at this juncture.
