BERLIN (Reuters) - Germany's Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday criticized U.S. Republican front-runner Donald Trump for a speech in which he said it would be "America first" if he were elected president.
Trump said on Wednesday that if elected, his foreign policy would leave European and Asian allies of the U.S. fending for themselves if they did not pay more for U.S. defense measures.
"I can only hope that the election campaign in the USA does not lack the perception of reality," Steinmeier said.
"The world's security architecture has changed and it is no longer based on two pillars alone. It cannot be conducted unilaterally," he said, referring to Trump's "America first" message.
Steinmeier said international conflicts could only be solved nowadays if heavyweights like the United States and Russia and others joined forces.

Sorry, but Germany got what it deserved. WW I was planned and executed with the weapons Germany had developed to conquer it’s neighbor, France. Machine Guns, Enormous Field Guns, Deadly Gas attacks,Tanks, etc. Alsace and part of Lorraine were not enough (Franco Prussian War 1870-1871) and the Treaty of Frankfort rewarded the aggressor, Germany. The city of Metz , Lorraine, was germanized and its centuries old portals and gates destroyed. A new train station was built which could move tens of thousands of soldiers within a twenty-four hour period. Metz was always a Garrison City. A giant aerodrome was home to dirigibles which could and did bomb London. French inhabitants were forbidden from speaking their own language in public and many were sent to concentration camps within Germany. Yes, this was WW I. Conflict had been smoldering for years.All it needed was the spark to the tinder that was Sarajevo and the assassination of Franz-Ferdinand and Sophie..

100% correct. Germany only fired the first shot because she was outnumbered and about to fight a two-front war, but everyone wanted war (except maybe England).
I would ask The German foreign minister if he believes what he does should first and foremost benefit Germany. If he says no, that would be nice for his people to hear.
